A small but welcoming refuge, with a truly friendly owner. It's a two-hour hike from Piedicavallo and less than 10 minutes from the spectacular Lago della Vecchia. We enjoyed a slice of delicious homemade cake. The view of the landscape below was truly rewarding.

Beautiful refuge and a nice route for those who go trekking, on average it takes 2 hours and 20 minutes to get there but for those who are good it takes an hour or a little more

A beautiful place...off the weekends and beautiful. The climb takes 2 hours, but individual times vary greatly; some take 1 hour, some 2 hours, some 3 hours. The trail is well-marked, and the lake is 10 minutes from the refuge.

Great experience at Refugio Lago della Vecchia. Besides the amazing view and the beauty of the paths, I want to emphasise the big effort of a crew to make your experience get better than expectations. Thanks to such an attentive staff!!!

Escaping the heat of the plain, my daughter and I reached the refuge after a two-hour walk starting from Piedicavallo. The refuge's location is wonderful, with a balcony overlooking the entire valley that you walk through to reach it, and 5 minutes from the suggestive lake of the same name. The interior is welcoming, and makes you feel at home. Excellent food, amazing cakes, and extremely friendly service

30/03/2026: A vintage place with amazing sandwiches! Really delicious. I had the special Halloween sandwich and it was truly excellent, as were the veggie fries. I don't recommend the three-chocolate cake, however; it's definitely packaged, dry, and not particularly good. Returned after a year, and I can confirm the deliciousness of the sandwiches and especially the sweet potato fries. I recommend the key lime pie, truly delicious. It's a shame I came to try the deep dish pizza and it was no longer available.
11/03/2026: The burger from '212 Burger' was a fantastic birthday present! The best burger I've ever eaten. Perfect quality and the friendliest staff I've ever encountered, respectful and full of energy.
