A small but welcoming refuge, with a truly friendly owner. It's a two-hour hike from Piedicavallo and less than 10 minutes from the spectacular Lago della Vecchia. We enjoyed a slice of delicious homemade cake. The view of the landscape below was truly rewarding.

Beautiful refuge and a nice route for those who go trekking, on average it takes 2 hours and 20 minutes to get there but for those who are good it takes an hour or a little more

A beautiful place...off the weekends and beautiful. The climb takes 2 hours, but individual times vary greatly; some take 1 hour, some 2 hours, some 3 hours. The trail is well-marked, and the lake is 10 minutes from the refuge.

Great experience at Refugio Lago della Vecchia. Besides the amazing view and the beauty of the paths, I want to emphasise the big effort of a crew to make your experience get better than expectations. Thanks to such an attentive staff!!!

Escaping the heat of the plain, my daughter and I reached the refuge after a two-hour walk starting from Piedicavallo. The refuge's location is wonderful, with a balcony overlooking the entire valley that you walk through to reach it, and 5 minutes from the suggestive lake of the same name. The interior is welcoming, and makes you feel at home. Excellent food, amazing cakes, and extremely friendly service

06/01/2026: Good restaurant, very nice atmosphere, especially during the holidays. The only problem is the bill... unfortunately, since there are so many people, it's easy to take away or add a dish to the bill of the diners (even if we paid for the same table as the same family). This service is unfortunately not good. Furthermore, I found that, as usual, the dishes are not served first to the ladies, and this does not do the restaurant credit. Excellent staff, but the bill and the service need to be reviewed. Try hiring a few more waiters, and everything will certainly improve.
02/01/2026: We went to Darmagi for New Year's Eve dinner. It was, as usual, a magnificent experience. The location, the food, the service, everything was absolutely perfect. So many details you'd rarely find in other restaurants: the beautifully set table, the stellar menu, five sets of cutlery, and for the midnight toast they left one or more bottles of brut (excellent) for each table. All at a more than fair price. My heartfelt compliments for everything.
