Contrary to some of the less-than-favorable reviews I've read, my partner and I had a wonderful time at this refuge. The staff were incredibly welcoming and even made us laugh, the food was excellent and affordable, and all in a breathtaking setting. There's definitely a lot of traffic, so I recommend arriving at a reasonable time, or don't be surprised if you can't get lunch at 3 PM. A special mention to the alpacas and the whistling bartender at the kiosk! So friendly 😂 We can't wait to go back, thanks, and see you soon!

A very beautiful and well-equipped refuge. We didn't use the rooms, but I'm giving it five stars for the beautiful outdoor dining areas. Lunch was delicious, with a choice of platters and plain or concia polenta accompanied by stews, vegetables, or simply au gratin. There's a small alpaca farm on site, with three friendly and sociable alpacas, all of which are provided for a fee of grass. Easily accessible.

The owner and waiters were very kind and helpful. The place was clean and well-kept. I recommend it 👍🏻

An unforgettable experience in a welcoming and meticulously maintained refuge! Managed with passion by the owners, always kind and helpful, as are the entire staff, always smiling. The typical Aosta Valley cuisine is a true delight, authentic dishes rich in authentic flavors. The sky boxes are a must-see, ideal for relaxing under a breathtaking starry sky. To top it all off, a romantic trout pond, friendly alpacas nearby, and, in the background, the majestic Matterhorn. A corner of paradise in the mountains, worth experiencing and highly recommended!

Food and place are great but at 2130 you are kicked out of the common area and have nowhere else to go but your dorm.

We had a wonderful stay at Refugio Chaligne. The food was excellent—plentiful, delicious, and made with high-quality local ingredients. While the price might seem high at first glance, the value for money is absolutely worth it. The hut itself is beautifully maintained and exceptionally clean. We especially enjoyed relaxing by the small pond with its lovely view of the neighboring valley, and the cappuccino at the kiosk was a nice touch after our hike. After arriving, we spent three to four peaceful hours simply unwinding and enjoying the atmosphere. What truly made the experience special was the hospitality. The owners and staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and open. We also appreciated that they spoke Italian, French, and English, which made communication very easy. And yes, card payment is possible when the internet connection is stable. All in all, it was a great experience—we left feeling relaxed and happy. Highly recommended!
