August 10, 2023 Alta Valvarrone is a magical place and today I present to you the E-Bike excursion, which can of course also be done on foot, which leads to the Casera Vecchia di Varrone refuge The departure is in Premana, in Via Giabbio, in the industrial area (750 m above sea level) Leaving the car, you pass the last sheds and reach the Varrone stream, which you cross on a stone bridge. You follow the agro-silvo-pastoral road in its entirety and at the end, arriving at a small bridge, you cross the stream again and enter the beautiful Varrone basin, with the homonymous Pizzo (2,325m above sea level) which stands out imposingly and sharply in the background. A little further on, on the left, the Rifugio Casera Vecchia di Varrone appears. We continued a little further until we reached Alpe Varrone where we bought a nice piece of Bitto. The return takes place on the same route as the outward journey. Parking: Premana (industrial area via Giobbi) 19.5km Disl 1050 metres 100% cycle-friendly Technical difficulty: easy up to Forni di Sotto, medium difficulty then up to the refuge.

After 3 hours of walking you arrive at a beautiful landscape, a last effort takes you to this enchanting valley At 11.45 we enter the refuge Unfortunately 😣 welcomed in a frugal way, almost superfluous as if we were annoying asking for a slice of cake, one of the owners replied that they weren't ready A sandwich 🥪, it didn't have bread We had to wait until 1.30pm for a plate of pasta Therefore we set off again and went down to the valley without being refreshed except with a glass of beer 🍺 which I don't drink 😡
