Restaurant/Lido with a beautiful sunset view. We had an anchovy appetizer, a fish main course, and dessert each for €160. The food was very good (especially the fish). I recommend the seared tuna for €45. The service was a bit lacking: the menu was on a used slip of paper and the waiters weren't very attentive (they'd forgotten the wine list). We waited 20-30 minutes for our water to be brought.

The risotto we were served was by far the worst I've had .... It tasted bitter stale with an overpowering crispy algae which totally ruined the dish... the chef apologised and sent us the bill nevertheless The warm seafood salad n desert was Ok.. Service was pretty decent...

Our dining experience at Il Merlo was truly exceptional. We were recommended by friends. It's located in a well-maintained beach club surrounded by plants and flowers. The atmosphere was welcoming, and the staff was attentive from the moment we walked in; they made us feel right at home. We followed the waiter's recommendations: rice au gratin with scampi and curry, a plinth with three roasts with butter and grated hazelnuts, and then continued with the second courses of fried Tirreno fish and sliced beef with herbs, a platter of oysters and shrimp. The flavors of each dish were perfectly balanced. The homemade bread was still warm, with a crispy crust and a soft, fragrant interior. The service was impeccable. Our glasses were never empty, and the food arrived promptly. Don't miss the desserts...fantastic; our Millefoglie and Peach Melba. Excellent value! An unforgettable experience! Il Merlo is truly a gem in Forte dei Marmi. The food is absolutely incredible – every dish is crafted with perfection and bursts with flavor. The service is impeccable: attentive, warm, and professional without being intrusive. And that view… simply breathtaking, making the whole dining experience even more magical. So let's start with the food: fairly traditional dishes, but very, very good, the quality is unquestionable. The risotto was abundant, creamy, and flavorful, the paccheri were cooked to perfection. The fried fish and sole were also very good. The millefeuille was exceptional. The food is beyond reproach, and the location is also worth it. However, I found the bill a bit steep, on par with high-end restaurants, but with little attention to detail: - the tablecloth was stained on the corners - no welcome appetizer (usually, in places of this caliber, they tend to offer perhaps a small glass of wine and a taste of the chef's selection) - we asked for the bill twice, but it never arrived, so we went to the cashier. These are minor details, but considering the cost (about €90/€100 per person with: 3 first courses, 3 second courses, 2 side dishes, 2 desserts, 3 glasses of wine, and 2 waters), I think it could be improved. In any case, the food is very good, and the cuisine is worth it.

The food was delicious but the service was horrible. We waited 30 minutes to get a bootle of water, we were not the only one.
