Re Mida In Lecce

We stopped by chance on a Saturday evening... welcoming, friendly... excellent food, truly TYPICAL AND WELL MADE!!! The drinks are excellent and they have a great selection without spending a fortune, unlike other places that charge a lot given the season... As a Salento native living in the north, I wish all places in Lecce were like this... right in the historic center, you get a taste of the origins and authenticity of Salento... In the end, we even made friends with the customers and with Stefania (the owner) and Alessandro (the waiter). They made us feel like an integral part of everything. We obviously returned, and like the first time, the same magnificent experience. We should say thank you to the people who still want to keep our traditions and our essence alive without profiting. ❤️

A beautiful restaurant in the historic center of Lecce, amidst the vibrant nightlife, offering a delicious menu with a variety of appetizers, first courses, second courses, and more. I loved the potato bombette and the roasted tuna steak, a true delight! The staff were very helpful, kind, and professional, as was the charming and friendly owner. I absolutely recommend it for sampling a variety of typical Salento dishes. See you next time, La Baritonessa.

We were initially hesitant due to the restaurant's rating, but we were pleasantly surprised. The owner was very attentive to the service, and the photo of the food speaks for itself. The appetizer, featuring the most abundant quality ingredients, was the most delicious we've had in Puglia.

Despite seeing some mixed or negative reviews beforehand, we had a very positive experience at this small, charming restaurant just steps from the Cathedral. It was an extremely hot day, and we were looking for a light meal at an unusual hour — around 4:00 PM, which is well outside typical lunch times in Southern Italy. To our surprise, the staff welcomed us warmly, without hesitation. That kind of flexibility and hospitality is not always common in the south, and we really appreciated it. Inside, the air conditioning was a blessing — cool, comfortable, and refreshing, offering a perfect escape from the oppressive heat outside. We ordered a few light dishes: – a burrata caprese, fresh and creamy, – and a puccia (polpo) the local sandwich-like specialty — packed with flavor and incredibly satisfying. The food was beautifully presented and full of local character. We also noticed they had an excellent wine selection, with high-quality bottles at very reasonable prices. Unfortunately, we were there too early to truly enjoy the full dinner experience, but we’ll definitely return for a proper evening meal next time. The interior is cozy and traditional, with tasteful touches that reflect Lecce’s baroque style but in a relaxed, unpretentious setting. Recommended if you’re looking for good local food, a cool and quiet spot in the city center, and friendly, flexible service — even at an odd hour.

We probably wouldn't have even included this place in our culinary plans during our short stay in Lecce, as the current Google rating falls a bit short of our standards. But since it was mentioned by a local who rented us an apartment as one of two places to visit in Lecce, it was inevitable that we wouldn't listen. And it was worth it, because although it wasn't something special enough for me to honestly give it 5 stars, I consider this restaurant a solid 4, with really good, traditional Apulian cuisine. The restaurant is located in the historic center of Lecce, on a busy street – it's lively and pleasant, and you can sit outside (as we did, but at tables on a side street, not by the barrels on the main street) or inside (there was a large dog there, though, and not everyone appreciates loud barking and that kind of company). We started with an appetizer called "Lu Spilu." It was a plate of deep-fried balls in three different varieties: meatballs, potato croquettes, and what the menu calls "iconic" pittule (yeast dough balls traditional to Salento). They were tasty, although I expected them to be crispier on the outside after the "iconic" pittule. Then came the main courses: my son ordered grilled octopus, and I opted for the puccia, popular in the region, a beautifully toasted roll filled with octopus simmered in a pignata. A pignata is a terracotta pot used for long cooking and is considered the ancestor of today's slow cookers. The girls, on the other hand, ordered parmigiana (with eggplant, mortadella, meatballs, and capocollo). The appetizer was okay. My son's octopus and my puccia were very good. The parmigiana were very meaty, but good. A chilled rosé wine from the region is also available. Service is acceptable. I don't like having to ask for plates to be removed half an hour after eating. But the overall experience was good. Don't be fooled by the currently rather low Google ranking. It's worth a visit and a try, especially since the prices aren't high for Lecce. A solid 4! Check it out!

An elegant and welcoming restaurant with friendly and professional staff. Traditional dishes are freshly cooked under the owner's watchful eye. I recommend the puccia and the fried octopus, but everything is truly delicious. If you're lucky, ask for the stewed snails, a truly delicious and unique off-menu item. A must-try is a Lecce coffee, served in a moka pot with almond milk and ice. A wonderful experience in a historic center that truly feels like a living room.

Very cute little restaurant. The food was very tasty and the portions were generous. I had horsemeat in a bread roll. The waiter was very charming.
