I've been there several times and have always been more than satisfied. Fast and friendly service, delicious food (I recommend the slow-cooked pork shank... amazing!), and incredibly low prices. The last time, six of us ate and drank so much we couldn't get up from our seats, including desserts and three liqueurs, for a total of €189!

Pub Skala, which is only a pub in name, is actually an authentic Slovenian tavern hidden in the small village of Gropada, on the border between Italy and Slovenia. The streets here are so narrow that you can barely get through with a small car, and it really feels like you're in the middle of nowhere. Yet, this place offers a unique experience. Here you can find good German beer, which is rare in the area, and at more than fair prices. Finally you can taste some real original German Hell and Bock! But it's not just the beer that makes the difference: the cuisine offers traditional dishes such as jota, a dish loved in these parts, which ranges from Istria to the Slovenian Karst to Trieste. A tip not to be underestimated: add 4-5 tablespoons of Cabernet or even better Teran to your jota and drink the rest of the bottle. I guarantee that that day will remain etched in your memory. The pork shank with polenta is a real treat, as is the hamburger, ham and mushroom sandwich. And to top it off, the palačinke with white chocolate and strawberries are the perfect finale. If the wine and beer haven’t already made your eyelids droop, these will surely send you into a sweet slumber.

So much stuff! Fried savory crepes are out of this world! As for sweet omelettes, you're spoiled for choice!!!

Great place. We ate well, in a nice environment and paid the right amount. Highly recommended for a "karst" experience, with dishes and products from the Karst, precisely.

Cozy place, great food and fabulous beers. I go there often and also take away because it is convenient. I recommend it to everyone.
