We had the honor of meeting Mr. Delfino Maruca, the award-winning chef and owner who has received numerous accolades within the European Union, and of enjoying his exquisite dishes. I highly recommend the pasta tasting. The cuisine is imbued with a distinct identity, reflecting the history of Serrastretta and preserving recipes and stories passed down through generations, enriching the present and showcased in the photographs that adorn the restaurant. Kind, communicative, and proud of his heritage, he is also knowledgeable about Venezuelan and Río de la Plata cuisine. He opened the restaurant exclusively for us, providing an experience we will cherish forever. If you seek a truly enriching experience, this is the perfect place.

We arrived by bike at Vecchio Castagno at 3 pm, tired and hungry, and Delfino generously welcomed us, preparing a feast fit for kings. The food is exceptional, entirely homemade, local, and special. It was an unforgettable meal. Thank you so much!

Ladies and gentlemen, a unique experience of haute Calabrian cuisine, prepared with imagination and attention to detail, creating unique and original dishes like gnocchi with elderberries and pancetta, for example. My taste buds are still dancing the Macarena!!! The owners' courtesy and professionalism, combined with the beautiful, meticulously maintained setting, made this lunch an experience worth repeating and sharing.

We arrived in the small town of serrastretta looking for a place to eat. The people of the town could not have been nicer! They called down to Vecchio Castagno and the owner said he would open just for us. One of the locals had us follow him to the restaurant and sure enough the fireplace had been lit and we enjoyed a fantastic local meal for just the two of us.

It's a bit far from Lamezia Terme, but in these places you can breathe and savor the atmosphere of times gone by. The staff were truly friendly; two wonderful ladies welcomed us and accompanied us through this lunch. The menu is extensive, and there's plenty to choose from. We had an appetizer, a first course, and a second course. The appetizer was a bit too simple, with no cheese or meatballs, which I expect from places like this. The first course was good, but too soaked in oil, while the grilled meat was nothing to write home about, just delicious. The dessert was spectacular. There's a gazebo outside, definitely for summer lunches and dinners... plenty of parking. Thank you.
