Poldo Forever In Taranto

An inveterate eater of pucce poldo since I was 10 years old (now that I'm reviewing I'm 22), I've personally seen and tasted all the evolutions of this historic place and its products. It is located in a central point of the hamlet of Taranto called Lama, very easy to get there, as well as finding parking, obviously free. The huge venue, in addition to the kitchen, bathroom, beer counter and cash register, offers vast and always clean spaces. Consequently, even if you cannot make table reservations, you can be sure of still finding a seat, unless you want to pick up takeaway. In the latter case, I suggest calling in the late afternoon, specifying the precise time at which to come. They also prepare pizzas, panzerotti and pikaciu, but the specialties are the pucce, with the most iconic birds and bowlers. The dough is golden and crunchy and the size (in length/width) is almost that of a pizza, but it is so rich in toppings that it is decidedly more filling. The meat is always of the highest quality, as are all the other ingredients: chips, salad, tomatoes and if you want additional ones, you can put whatever you want. For the little ones, who cannot easily eat almost a kilo of stuff, you can take the mini puccia (half a kilo), while for the more adventurous Poldo and Mega Poldo (up to 1.5 kg or more). Prices are proportional to quality/quantity and the costs of other venues. The staff is friendly and nice, especially the men who cook and assemble the preparations. I highly recommend it!

Excellent pucce, but how can you not find soap available in the bathroom at 8.30pm? How do you leave the club with greasy hands?

We've been going there for years, we like it, it's spectacular, delicious, the particular atmosphere. An obligatory stop if you pass through Taranto and the surrounding areas.

I've always liked this place since I was in high school. At first I took takeaway then, as I grew older, I preferred to enjoy the puccia at the tables. Now living abroad I have the opportunity to go at least once a year in December. Always excellent pukes. I'm sorry I couldn't find the cake made by them with Kinder bueno chocolate anymore. It was truly a fairy tale with cream.

The puccia da Poldo is a real must if you are in Taranto. Really good puccia and full of excellent seasonings. Courteous and helpful staff.

Che dire, Poldo lo frequentavo con i miei amici, ci andavamo in motorino. Ieri sera ci sono stato con la mia famiglia. A distanza di 20 e passa anni, le pucce di Poldo restano una grande alternativa a tutto il "troppo" che c'è oggi. Gli anni passano, ma per fortuna che c'è ancora qualche cosa buona che resiste. Peccato solo per Poldino, un pezzo di storia di Taranto che non c'è più.
