We dined here and enjoyed truly excellent seafood dishes: from the freshest oysters to pasta with clams, everything was well-prepared and made with quality ingredients. The cuisine undoubtedly deserves top marks, both for flavor and presentation. The service, however, was a shame: slow and a bit understaffed for the number of guests. The waiters did their best, but the wait was noticeable. Overall, an excellent dining experience that I would recommend, with the hope that the service will be improved to match the cuisine.

The tubes with mussels were superlative

We visited this restaurant for a dinner for two. Considering it's billed as above-average, there are several aspects that could be improved. Upon arrival, no one greeted us: we waited several minutes at the entrance and I was forced to go inside to acknowledge our presence. Table service was also quite slow, even when orders were taken. We ordered two appetizers—bao with tuna tataki and cod croquettes—both well executed. However, the first courses were a real disappointment. In addition to arriving incorrectly, the quality was below expectations: • The Sardinian gnocchi with stracciatella, cherry tomatoes, and shrimp were flat and poorly balanced. • The linguine with clams and bottarga was overcooked and, even worse, contained potentially dangerous pieces of clam shell. The final bill was almost €90, including a 375ml bottle of wine. A decidedly high price for an experience with many issues. The wait staff, while courteous, seemed inexperienced and inattentive. It's a shame, because there's potential. But at the moment, the overall quality justifies neither the positioning nor the prices.

Absolutely amazing place. Known particularly for its seafood, Gatto Rosso actually stands out in every respect, from the incredibly welcoming, kind, and competent staff to the classy decor and, of course, the top-notch cuisine. As an Italian, I can safely say that Gatto Rosso represents the best of our hospitality. Don't miss it if in Taranto!

Long wait times, untrained staff, good food but portions not quite large enough to justify the price. A bad day can happen, but given the prices, the experience is anything but positive.

Classy and comfortingly welcoming, excellent quality in the kitchen and amiable service. The povera pasta dishes are sumptuous and there's a wine list as deep as the nearby harbour. Nearly missed out to a large office booking, even in a sweltering midday midweek so it seems advisable to book ahead.

The staff is so friendly and polite, and the food is amazing.
