📍 La Polla di Tommaso – Pariana (MS) Traveling to Pariana, a small remote village above Massa, and discovering this trattoria was a real surprise. La Polla di Tommaso is an incredibly authentic place, where time seems to have stood still. The atmosphere is rustic and authentic, filled with warm and welcoming locals who make you feel immediately at home. Here, you'll find a dual spirit that's hard to find elsewhere: amazing pizza and sublimely cooked meats. Normally, a restaurant excels in one or the other, but here, both reach the highest level. The ingredients are of extraordinary quality, the cuisine is honest and sincere, the flavors authentic. In winter, with the fireplace blazing, the atmosphere becomes even more magical, enriched by those typical Lunigiana characters who bring color and warmth to the place. And as if that weren't enough, the window offers a breathtaking view: the entire valley, with Massa and Carrara seen from above, which offers unforgettable spectacles at sunset. A place truly worth discovering and loving. Highly recommended.

I didn't eat, but I did ask for directions. All the staff were EXTREMELY friendly, and I'm sure the pizzas are just as good ;)

Family-run pizzeria where focaccia reigns supreme. The focaccia and cured meats are excellent, as is the pizza, which I'll definitely try next time. Informal atmosphere, friendly service. Highly recommended.

Legendary chicken!!! I've been going there since I was little... Bartolo and Mauro are institutions... when I pass through Massa it's a must stop... Focaccias... pizzas... steaks... everything is top!!

Highly recommended. Very rich and delicious food. We had a (very generous) starter for two people: antipasti mista with focaccia, vegetables, various cheeses, ham, salami, olives, and much more. This was followed by a delicious pizza. Exceptionally friendly staff and a lovely atmosphere. Another great thing: we were able to charge our electric car right next door. There are two charging stations at one station right next to the parking lot. Perfect. We'd be happy to come back. Thank you very much.

13/11/2025: 2012 WORLD CHAMPION LOCATION 👉 Pizzeria da Natale, open since 1992, is located in Tuscany, at Piazza Giuseppe Mazzini, 13, in the municipality of Aulla, in the province of Massa Carrara. 👉 It's a very well-known pizza by the slice, having been recommended to me by some Emilian friends visiting my hometown of Pisa. 🏆 In 2012, Pizzeria Natale was the World Champion in "pizza in teglia" at the world finals held in Salsomaggiore Terme. 👉 The pizza he created and led to victory was called "Mondiale" and was topped with parmesan cheese, cherry tomatoes, buffalo mozzarella, and basil. According to the owners, it remains one of the most popular pizzas to this day. 👉 Therefore, I personally went to the municipality of Aulla to verify what I was told. 👉 The restaurant isn't large, but it's well-organized, both in the reception area and the work and food preparation area, with a small dining room with tables. 👉 There are no tables outside. 👉 The aroma is a sign of deliciousness as soon as you enter. 👉 The pizza is thick and soft, crispy on the sides, and the toppings aren't overdone. You can clearly taste the freshness of the ingredients used, as it's even good reheated in your home oven. 👉 Everything is made fresh, partly in view and placed on the counter. 👉 The cecina, as we Tuscans call it (or farinata, as they say in Liguria), is truly delicious: thin, crispy, and thin. 👉 As you can see from the menu, the selection is wide and you can also eat in. 👉 I recommend everyone in Aulla, and even the surrounding areas, to try this pizza. 👉 The pizzeria also has a very well-designed and interesting website. 👉 The prices are in line with the average, and the pizzas are large enough for two people.
