24/01/2025: Hotel Gutkowski is the perfect place to stay to explore Isola di Ortigia the small island in the historical centre of the city of Syracuse and the southern area of Sicily. The city is very walkable and the hotel is well situated on the water’s edge on the eastern side. The staff was very helpful and the rooms were clean. The hotel has a common deck for an early evening drink to watch the sun set before dinner. The hotel dining room has a very good vegetable forward approach and well worth getting a reservation for. There is a large public pay lot a block away and it is patrolled.

10/11/2024: We spent a wonderful 4 nights here. We had Room 27, which was spacious with separate lounge and bedroom. It has a partial view of the sea. The room was very clean. The road outside is busy but we didn’t hear traffic noise in the room when the doors were shut. The staff were very helpful and gave tips on the locations to visit. The hotel is well placed and it is easy to walk to all of the sights. Breakfast is included and offers a very good selection, not just cake and coffee. Although better cappuccinos are had in other cafes. The breakfast staff could have provided better and more friendly service.
