Pizzeria Fortuna In Napoli

The pizza was good. Their credit card machine wasn't working, and they didn't mention it until after we ate.

When I was in high school, I often made a regular stop at the pizzeria at lunchtime, where I would get a pizza a portafoglio. It was always hot in the window, and cheap. Sometimes I would sit in the internal room, simple, with white walls and modest but authentic furnishings. I would eat a proper margherita: good, fast, and affordable for a student. It's been 14 years since I finished high school, and I no longer live in Naples. Yet, I go back every now and then. Just recently I went to this pizzeria with my girlfriend, from Puglia, because I wanted her to experience those flavors and that atmosphere that had remained in my heart. Unfortunately, the reality I found today is very different: a place now aimed almost exclusively at tourists, with the obvious goal of maximizing profit. Of course I wish every success to those who work there, but I cannot hide my regret for the loss of that popular, simple and authentic identity, which once made this place so special.

Neapolitana in Naples. There are two men interested in football results ("Ladies, tomato sauce for margaritas? That's crazy"), and on the wall there is an altar dedicated to Maradona. The pick arrived modest, but soft, aromatic and unburned. It seemed to be a united structure, not a Christmas tree with loose components. Very tasty in this native Neapolitan ristorante.

So here’s the thing: when you’re in Naples, you expect every pizza to change your life. You’re in the homeland. The sacred ground of dough and sauce. Unfortunately, Pizzeria Fortuna missed that memo. Let’s start with the pizza. It was… fine. Not terrible, but definitely forgettable. In a city where even the airport pizza slaps, this one just didn’t deliver. Bland crust, meh toppings, and sauce that tasted like it gave up halfway through. But wait—it gets better. The owner tried to pull the classic “creative pricing” move. Handed us a total that didn’t match anything on the menu, hoping we wouldn’t notice (spoiler: we did). After we pointed it out, he magically corrected it, but you could tell this wasn’t his first rodeo. Kinda left a bad taste in our mouths—and it wasn’t just the pizza. TOP1/2 pizza in Neapol and also in my life . I’ve tried a lot of pizza in the city and this is one of my favourite. I’ll back soon :)

Prima di prendere il treno, ci siamo fermati da loro perché la bambina voleva una pizzetta montanara da asporto. Erano le 11.30 e pur non avendo ancora tutto pronto, con tenerezza e gentilezza nei confronti della bimba, le hanno fatto apposta una pizza fritta mozzarella e pomodoro. La pizza era calda, buona ed è stata una goduria per entrambe perché anche bella grande. È buona anche la pizza piegata a portafoglio soprattutto se comprata in orario in cui le sfornano calde con più frequenza.
