Welcoming and friendly, we had a lovely lunch on our last day in Rome.

During a trip to Rome we discovered this restaurant on the bend of an alley. After reading the different reviews we chose this one for an evening meal. The quiet and atypical street is enjoyable just as much as the meals. Special mention to the “pastry chef” who comes to present the desserts to us before taking the order. I recommend this restaurant which, unlike many others in the tourist sector, are a real “tourist factory”.

Searching the area we found the Cucina del Teatro, it had good ratings and quite a few reviews and we decided to try it. The first thing we will highlight is the kindness of the woman who served us, I thought she was adorable and on such a hot day she sat us near the outdoor fan they had, which raised the intensity and thus gave us life. When we asked for water, he also gave us a glass of ice, which he won for us as a detail. The menu did not seem very extensive to us, especially in terms of starters, we opted for the dishes they had of the day: a ham and mozzarella bruschetta as a starter (€10) a pasta dish with pancetta and pecorino (€13) and a lasagna (€13). The food was good, but nothing more, you could notice a homemade pasta and the bacon was very tasty but apart from noticing a tight quantity and being a quality that was met and that's it, it was somewhat disappointing. Don't get it wrong, it was good, but I expected more. The place has charm. The final price for two bottles of water, a starter and two dishes is €45, which is not bad.

The restaurant was off the main road and a nice relief from busy Rome. Food was absolutely amazing. We got the Cacio e Pepe and truffle fettuccini which was the best we have had throughout our Italy travels. Wine choice by our server was crisp and cold. Dont expect quick service, although that tends to be the norm around this area. You are able to enjoy your meal / wine without being rushed. Pastry chef was exceptional and came to our table to explain the dessert options. We ended up with a berry creation that we are still thinking about!

This is a really cosy, off the main throng restaurant with fabulous service and wonderful food. Just brilliant. Reasonable prices.
