Pizzeria da Raffa In Genova

The pizza is probably the best in Sestri (not Neapolitan style pizza), quiet service, little waiting.... the only flaw.... the garden (beautiful) but unfortunately the mosquitoes really make a blood binge there.... a veranda would be nice.... but it's fine anyway... for a pizza like this we resist 🤣

On Tuesdays, order the Picanha. The meat is excellent and the dish is well-prepared following the original Brazilian recipe.

We came here in the evening and had to wait about 15 minutes for a table, but it was worth it! The food was delicious, and the ingredients were fresh. We'll definitely be back. The atmosphere here in the evening was truly lovely, especially if you sit outside.

Perfect place to get food before or after the airport. This family owned place felt like you were coming home for dinner. The ower is so nice and our server, Federico, was fantastic. The decor was so beautiful, hand painted tree in the middle of the restaurant. Had to get a pizza to go and we will be back.

April 2025 Update: After a long time, I've returned to Raffa's. This time it was a Saturday, the place was really crowded, and we waited an hour for our pizza after ordering. However, I want to point out that the waiter warned us of the wait time and that the pizza chefs worked at top speed for that hour, churning out all the pizzas at a blistering pace—they really couldn't have done better. Having made this necessary introduction, I must unfortunately confirm my previous review from 2024; the old Raffa's "golden years" are now just a fond memory for me. This time, too, I wasn't thrilled with the pizza, neither good nor bad, as they say (but more bad than good). The price at least remained the same, but it's clear that times have changed (unfortunately). I'm also adding a picture of this latest pizza. As a side note, I should point out that they forgot the oregano on my Bruno, which is perhaps one of the highlights of this pizza. I had it added afterward, "dry," so it didn't blend with the rest of the flavors as it would when added during cooking. Update February 2024: I've been back to Raffa's several times since my initial review. Over the past year and a half, I've noticed that the pizza, while still good, isn't as good first time. Especially the last few times, I've found it to be quite "dry on the surface," and the dough hasn't completely convinced me either. I'd like to point out something that happened the last time that really bothered me: we sat down at the table and when ordering, we were asked if we wanted farinata before the pizzas. Even though we clearly said no and the waiter hadn't written "farinata" on the order sheet, after a few minutes, the farinata was brought to us, which obviously ended up on the final bill. We didn't argue at the time, but I still don't think it's fair at all for them to try to "push" an appetizer onto their customers even if they don't want it. Initial review (2022) referenced in the photos: Fantastic pizza, a must try! A thin, light dough, the quality of the dough is excellent. The ingredients are top-quality, and the pizzas are large and cooked to perfection without being burned. What can I say? Delicious! Going into too much detail would be a waste of words; the pizzas speak for themselves. Personally, I highly recommend the Bruno with stracchino and Taggiasca olives for those who aren't sure, or the Bambi for those who like venison salami and sausage. Whichever pizza you choose, you can't go wrong. Highly recommended.

Excellent pizzas. The cheese focaccia pizzata is excellent. Service isn't the fastest, but understandably so, as the pizzeria is always very busy.

Thin and crispy pizza! The best!

We've always tried it for birthdays or events, but on Sunday, we had a last-minute dinner with three friends. We booked half an hour in advance, and the staff immediately called (just to be fair) to let us know that there were several people present within minutes of our arrival, and that service might be delayed. We arrived at 8:00 PM, and the place was already quite busy. Our order was quickly taken and we were served. Quality pizza, a quality dessert, and a fair price. A big plus was the waitress's service, always very friendly despite the large number of customers. Well done, well done!

Very large group (60 people), quick service considering the situation. Thin-crust pizza (I like it that way, but it's not Neapolitan style). The mille-feuille with cream was a shame...
