Artichoke alla giudia and supplì were delicious, I tried cacio e pepe, and gricia was superb.
The puff pastry and maritozzo were perfect.

Visiting Bologna, a beautiful city, and having lunch or dinner at "Pista Mentuccia," a restaurant serving authentic Roman cuisine, run by a Roman from Garbatella, may seem anachronistic, but the "call of the blood" is strong everywhere. The restaurant has simple, even spartan furnishings, and the staff is young and on par with their seasoned colleagues, attentive and professionally impeccable. The dishes, masterfully crafted according to the canons of Roman cuisine, make you feel at home rather than in Bologna. Balanced flavors, generous portions, just the way we Romans like them, and a more than satisfactory quality/price ratio. The host, a charming and delightful person to chat with, transports you to Garbatella, the neighborhood where he was born. So to say the experience was positive would be a superficial assessment, so I'll call it EXCELLENT. It's a restaurant I recommend without hesitation. All this explains the five stars given by a Google local guide that is certainly not generous.

Pistamentuccia is a restaurant with strong ambitions: it wants to bring the authenticity of Roman cuisine to Bologna.
There were two of us, and we ordered two different first courses, but what I find unacceptable is having to wait for a second course. It's better to make them wait a little longer before serving the table, so at least we can start eating together.
The lack of cheese at the table is strange; I'd add it without having to wait for a waiter to bring it, regardless of the toppings.
The appetizers are a bit overpriced... the first courses are excellent and plentiful.
Obviously, this is my personal opinion.

i got the juicy and delicious meatballs "Polpette Di Lesso Al Sugo" in a tomato sauce and the greens "cicoria ripassata" which were slightly bitter and which complemented the tartness of the tomato sauce perfectly. The bread is really good too.
My check came to €25 which is really good value for the taste and the ambiance and the very warm and friendly and down-to-earth service.
The setting is nice with tall ceilings and lots of natural light and ample space. I went right after they opened for lunch so i was able to get a table as people were just starting to come in .
The main door to the bathrooms has to be slid or pushed to the right side, not pulled open. For the sink, to turn on the water, there's a small foot pedal down on the left.

The asparagus fettuccine and Roman-style saltimbocca were excellent. Fast service and very friendly staff. Highly recommended!

abbiamo mangiato bene con sapori sinceri e a volte evocativi di come cucinava la loro nonna ....ma pure la mia!
mi ha piacevolmente sorpreso anche la cortesia dei due giovani camerieri: attenti e dai modi affabili.
tagliatella alla vignarola ottima così come polpette e baccalà!
giusta la presentazione dei vini al calice.

Siamo ritornati e abbiamo mangiato come sempre molto bene ! Come ci si aspetta a Roma...porzioni abbondanti..e Sapori romani! Il servizio e il titolare molto cordiali .
Anche il pane ottimo..x fare la scarpetta nella matriciana!
