I stayed three nights at Sa Funtana. The owner explained to me that the name means "fountain," and indeed, if you take a stroll around the area, you'll find a small fountain surrounded by greenery. It was a detail I really appreciated.
I have to be honest: I was a little skeptical after reading some reviews, but after spending a few days here, I realized that we often focus too much on appearances.
Laura and her daughter, Ludovica, made me feel at home right away. They are kind, helpful, and always ready to chat or offer advice. Speaking with Laura, I realized how many challenges they faced to keep this place running, and I appreciated even more the commitment and passion they put into it every day.
Yes, the place isn't perfect, and there's certainly room for improvement, but for me, these things fade into the background when you find such a sincere welcome. It's easy to find beautiful places these days, but it's much harder to find people who make you feel truly welcome.
If you're looking for luxury, this probably isn't the place for you. If, however, you love tranquility, nature, and a simple, family-friendly atmosphere, you'll feel at home here.
I truly wish Laura and Ludovica the best and hope to return one day.
A quote by Franz Kafka comes to mind that I think sums them up well:
"We admire not the barely sprouting flowers on the branches, but the root that sinks deep into the darkness."
