A lovely restaurant just steps from Piazza Sant'Oronzo, just outside Lecce's historic center. As the name suggests, upon arrival, you're asked to choose the fish you want from the fish counter, which will then be cooked for you. The counter had an excellent and varied selection; we opted for grilled calamari and mussels cooked in a flame. A few concerns about the service, but otherwise, an excellent dinner at a fair price.

A great restaurant with a selection of fish, crustaceans, and mollusks, all of incomparable freshness. The fried pink shrimp was incredible, and the sea bream and squid were simply grilled, without any frills, perfect. Competent and friendly service. A great restaurant, a must-visit.

Il posto è incantevole. Il pesce è freschissimo e la formula del ristorante è originale: c'è un banco del "fresco" in cui si può scegliere il pesce e il tipo di cottura. Il servizio è attento e professionale. Il prezzo vale l'esperienza

Pesce freschissimo e cucinato molto bene. Primo piatto di linguine e rana pescatrice, secondo piatto di sgombro: entrambi ottimi. Da migliorare il servizio sala. Consigliato.

14/10/2025: Osteria Sant’Angelo – Gallipoli, Italy What a wonderful find! Tucked in the narrow streets of Gallipoli’s old town, Osteria Sant’Angelo turned out to be one of the best meals of my trip. The setting is charming — stone walls, soft lighting, and that unmistakable southern Italian warmth that makes you feel instantly at home. I started with a seafood appetizer that was as fresh as it gets, followed by homemade pasta that tasted like it came straight from a family kitchen. Everything was simple, honest, and full of flavor — exactly what good Italian cooking should be. The staff were fantastic: friendly, attentive, and genuinely proud of what they serve. They recommended a local white wine that paired perfectly with the meal. Dessert — a classic tiramisù — was the perfect finish. If you’re in Gallipoli and want a true taste of Puglia, don’t miss this place. Osteria Sant’Angelo isn’t just a restaurant — it’s an experience that captures the heart of Italy: good food, good wine, and good people.
