Pescepane In Firenze

Dined at Pescepane for Christmas Eve dinner. Small but very quaint and welcoming place. Staff really kind and friendly. We ordered as a starter a soup of the day (very good) and some octopus meatballs (the percentage of bread compared to that of octopus was too unbalanced but these were also good) Followed as a first course by homemade gnocchi with red prawn bisque and their pulp, truly remarkable. Little guitar with lupins. As a second course we shared an excellent fried fish. Fry the batter dry and light. Easygoing but attentive and friendly service throughout the service. Account perfectly in line with what is consumed and the quality of the raw materials and how they were transformed. I personally complimented the chef, as it was also a special evening and with the place full, all the courses came out on time. Advised! Well done!

Excellent food, especially the paccheri alla trabacollara and the cooked apple dessert. Friendly managers and fast service. Cozy and well furnished room. Fair price. To return.

La Cucina di Pescepane. This is a seafood restaurant. I ordered shrimp gnocchi and red octopus potato dishes. Shrimp gnocchi is gnocchi made with minced shrimp and sauce. The texture of the minced shrimp was good, but the taste of the homemade gnocchi did not live up to my expectations. The gnocchi itself tasted a bit like porridge. And it was more seasoned than I expected, so I sprinkled salt on it. Since it had a light taste with the weight of seafood, I thought it would be a good idea to add a little acidity. In the red octopus potato dish, the octopus was cooked very gently and well. The doneness of the potatoes was also good. Personally, I think it would have been better if there had been some sauce to go with it. The staff was friendly and, above all, I felt like the restaurant interior was faithful to the theme of being a seafood restaurant. I like the color and other interior materials. I have been here several times near Piazza Sant'Ambrogio and it is always good, the place is furnished in a simple but colorful and cheerful way, with references to the sea. The recipes can also be found on the board with the dishes of the day, which in any case are beautifully cooked. Really a great place to return to, the price is under €50 each despite the 3 courses.
