Pater Familias In Paternopoli

Wonderful palace to say the least, we went for dinner last night, impeccable service, wonderful welcome and excellent food at fair prices. We will definitely be back!

Paterfamilias is located in the historic center of Paternopoli, in the beating heart of Irpinia, one of the most noble and ancient lands in Italy. The structure is housed in the cellars of an ancient palace with arches and tuff walls. Francesco, the owner, is a person who deeply loves the area and makes you feel at home. Excellent quality food and a wine that is a compendium of the entire Irpinia tradition.

I was with the family for lunch on August 15th, therefore with a fixed menu, however I ate simple things very well prepared with attentive and generous service which allowed us to also let the two girls under 8 who were with us live the experience of flavours. us. Given that they offered us to prepare whatever they wanted for them, we preferred to let them eat half portions from the same menu provided for adults. The half portions were really generous, too much for the girls in fact, but the other diners liked them! In the bill, however, a very reduced price was still charged for them! We found some very small flaws in the lack of air conditioning replaced by large fans, but on such a hot day they didn't completely compensate. We forgot about the heat anyway thanks to the pleasant atmosphere. Finally, the accompanying breads that were served to us from the beginning in beautiful wooden boxes, handmade breadsticks, onion focaccia and homemade bread, were not up to par with the rest of the lunch. Special mention to Francesco, the owner, professional and attentive, and to the service in the room, welcoming and helpful. I plan to return and eat à la carte to fully appreciate the local cuisine. I recommend it!
