Pasticceria Royal In Casavatore

12/11/2023: We were staying at Dream &fly near the airport. We searched for somewhere to eat in the area. Being a Sunday most eateries were closed in the evening. Trattoria de papa was the only one close to us that was open. Now we do not speak Italian, they do not speak English, why would they? However after negotiating the menu, the lady took our order. So first to arrive was Ham and Mozzarella. OMG, this was amazing. Next we had Bruschetta, well bread toasted on the open fire covered in tomatoes with oil ,garlic and herbs. Gastro heaven. I chose the clam spaghetti and my partner had the orange and prawn risotto. Both a culinary delight. Two large Peroni beers. The bill 57 euros. The tastiest food we had in the ten days we have spent in Italy. It’s a small cosy local Trattoria on a busy road, ten minute walk from the airport. Full of larger than life characters, like most Italians. Despite the language barrier, we had a lovely warm welcome and excellent service. Highly recommended, ten big stars.

21/10/2023: If you go by, you’ll probably pass. From the outside the place looks decadent. Inside is a small room. Square tables with plastic tablecloth. We almost left upon entering… Inside two old napolitan mamas. And an italian menu. No other language spoken. We decided to give it a try, and ordered 1 mixed salad and 1 Spaghetti Carbonara ( to share). Both came so fresh, and prepared with attention and taste !! We decides to order a second salad and a Sicilian spaghetti. Both also true to the simpple and tasty italian cuisine. Made on the spot by the mama in the back. We ended with a Tiramisu. If you are looking for fancy - place and/or cuisine) don’t go. But if you are tired of the tourist traps and want to try a genuine italian mama cuisine - not withstanding the “crappy” look of the place, try Tratoria Da papá and its Italian mama cuisine- from the garden and oven to your plate
