I came to this humble pasticceria specifically to get the Rustica Leccese and it did not disappoint! This small pastry shop in Trieste specializes in the pastries of Salento, the southern part of Puglia - the heel of the Italian boot. It's made in house and authentically shares the flavours and artisanal craft of the region. My favourite are the rustici from Lecce, flakey pastry filled with mozzarella, tomato and besciamella, best eaten when they are warm out of the oven. I also had the cornetti con crema e nocciola (Nutella). They take cash and cards. Worth a visit to northern Rome for a taste of southern Italy!
