After stepping out and returning a few minutes later, her demeanor changed—she seemed unwilling and unfriendly. I placed my order, gave her my information, and left. When I returned to ask about the cake’s ingredients (as I’m Muslim and need to confirm the gelatin source), I was on the phone with my sister for translation help. I put her on speaker so she could ask the questions, but the woman refused to speak to her and claimed she didn’t know what the gelatin was made of. When I canceled the order, she seemed annoyed. Overall, an unwelcoming experience. Simply because I am hijabi.
