Tradition! We enjoyed ourselves, friendly service the first time, less luck the second time.

Croissants to try, for all tastes; the cream-filled ones are even better. Prices are average.

The best "teatro delle monache" (nun's breasts) in Gioia del Colle can be found here (also with lactose-free Chantilly cream upon reservation). They also make "teatro delle monache" (nun's breasts) with chocolate cream or pistachio cream. The five-grain focaccia and the 250-gram multi-grain bread are also very good. They also offer bread made with Kamut flour (which lowers the glycemic index) and rolls made with Senatori Cappelli flour. The fruit tarts are also fantastic. I shop every other day despite the long lines to get in. It's absolutely worth it.

One of the best bakeries in Puglia. From bread to focaccia, taralli, biscuits, and desserts, everything is delicious. The Tette delle Monache (Monks' Breasts) are unforgettable. A must-stop if you're passing through Gioia del Colle.

first bakery i visited in gioia del colle and what an intro!
i came here to grab some tette della monaca (had to try them!) and couldn’t resist the smell of freshly baked panzerotti. so of course i left with one too. it was still piping hot by the time i got home, and biting into it was heavenly. high quality ingredients all around, especially the tomato sauce which was bursting with flavour.
as for the tette della monaca, they were delicious. the pistachio one was my favourite. soft, airy, almost like biting into a cloud. though i’ll admit, the shape, colour and consistency did at times remind me a bit too much of a real breast, which was… slightly unsettling.

The products are good, but the service leaves much to be desired: I was given yesterday's bread. I had asked for kamut rolls, but I found myself with more rolls in a bag (I didn't think I needed to check with the girl serving me). When I paid, I had to lean toward the counter to pick up the bags because they had been carelessly left inside. Was I treated this way because I'm not a regular customer, or because I wasn't friendly? I stop by this bakery when I'm passing through Gioia; I don't live there. So, courtesy towards customers doesn't exist? Next time, I'll go to another bakery. Quality isn't everything.
