NOT JUST A BAKERY!!!
I may be biased, but I'll give you a heads up. A corner of bakery paradise between Via Lazzaretto and Via Casati. Even if "corner" is reductive, it's a true paradise.
I don't always manage it, but I try to stop by almost every day to be pampered and chat. Also because otherwise Stefania gets worried and immediately asks me how I'm doing. Beyond the pleasure for the palate, there's a real social, human connection that, unfortunately, is increasingly difficult to find in Milan. But the baker endures! He gives me the energy I need to face the long workday. There are often days dedicated to specialties that, besides being delicious, have that Proustian flavor that warms my heart. Today I stopped by twice: cream bombolone for breakfast and chocolate diplomata for a snack—MASTERPIECE!
Since it's almost time, they also make some brilliant homemade panettone during the Christmas season.
So if you're interested in the stereotypical "experience" you post on Instagram, leaving a kidney behind, just walk a few steps further and you'll be satisfied. If you're interested in stopping by a place that's a refuge, a welcoming, authentic, and sincere place. If you want to indulge in a few minutes of human connection and blissful food, come here, IL FORNAIO will make your day. I recommend taking a break all to yourself, a piece of turmeric focaccia, a small round pizza, and a strudel. Chat with Stefania, let your heart warm, and enjoy the delicacies while sitting on the benches in nearby Piazza Cincinnato, kissed by the sun, between one diversion and another, lose yourself in watching the trams pass by and wave to each other.
