I've been to this restaurant many times over the past five years, always for lunch and only once for dinner. The last visit was last Monday for lunch: excellent quality, a simple and casual restaurant, with a stellar set menu based on fresh products that change with the season. The owner, Paola, was a delight: the soul of the place, capable of instantly putting you in a good mood even on bad days. Sadly, she's no longer with us, but the service and atmosphere remain top-notch thanks to Pietro, who has managed to elevate an already special place. I will definitely return and highly recommend it... but only for lunch! At dinner, the service is much slower, lacking the same customer service and attention to detail. The quality of the food remains excellent, but without the eye and attention of Pietro, who only works at lunchtime, the experience isn't as good.

Great place that does delicious meals

This restaurant was recommended to us by our pastor, who lived in Rome for several years. We were the first guests of the evening at 7 p.m., which made us a little suspicious. Being the only guests in a restaurant is strange, but that turned out to be the case. The restaurant is simply fantastic and highly recommended. A completely different concept. There is a pre-determined menu. 4 courses, each one better than the last 😋 Wine and water are included in the menu. The only option is to order the menu as a vegetarian menu. The rest is fixed. We paid €35 per person, which was perfectly fine. The ambience was OK, everything else was great!!! Clearly recommended. See pictures. If we are in Rome again, we will definitely come back.

This was a fabulous local restaurant where “Mama” is still cooking! The food was served family style with house wine. It was a great family experience!!

We came as a group of 4 friends on recommendation. As we had been told, it does not disappoint with a set of home-cooked dishes. Pietro's attention is spectacular. Not only with the service he offers, but also the passion with which he transmits his culinary tradition and his city must be highlighted. We doubt it, if we return to Italy, it is a mandatory stop. However, come without breakfast!

2025: I returned after 3 years, and it is even better now! The best food in Rome. 2022: The service is kind and of the utmost quality, to say nothing of the food, which is varied, rich in flavor and all-around delicious. One of the best experiences I've had eating in an italian city.

I found this restraint here in google maps and I am so grateful for the comments, it is a great place to try if you’re tired of all the insta popular places with waiting lines or typical Italian restaurants. Here you will feel like you are a guest in an Italian house, a family owned restaurant with home made food. It usually includes pasta, lentils, salad, bread, olive oil, slow cooked meat, some more food that I forgot and for a dessert the most incredible lemon pie I have ever tried, and the last but not least the wine is very delicious. There are not many tables, so make a reservation right here in google maps and you will have a quiet delicious evening in the center of Rome with home made food.

At Trattoria Der Pallaro, you feel at home, exquisite and home-made cuisine like grandma's, a single, abundant menu and good value for money, in a peaceful corner despite the central and tourist area. The service is attentive and authentic, you can feel the owner's strong desire to give a warm welcome to his customers and also to raise a few smiles. Next to us, there was an American family who returned to Rome with their children after twenty years from the first time, they returned to eat right here, how much poetry in simplicity.
