Osteria Valle In Todi

At the top of the "Porta Orvietana" elevator, this osteria invites you to a moment of refreshment... even for the soul. The carefully selected dishes reflect the authentic flavors of Umbrian tradition. The porchetta pork, the tagliolini with truffles, and the tiramisu with a crunchy surprise are excellent. The welcoming atmosphere, typical of an osteria, is further enhanced by a selection of background music that surprised and moved us. Thanks to the guys who carry on this business with such care and passion...which is much more than just a "job."

Beautifully located restaurant on the way between the Upper Town cable car station and Piazza del Popolo. Interestingly, the restaurant has three areas: outside, then the attached winter garden; and finally, the lovely interior. The restroom was clean, nothing to complain about. We got a table right away (we came spontaneously and didn't make a reservation!). The service was friendly, and the food arrived within a reasonable time (we definitely didn't wait too long). I had the pasta with truffles: it was very tasty, although I prefer it when the truffles are mixed directly into the olive oil and completely mixed with the pasta, as is the case at the "Sagra della Ciriola" in Coppe (a district of the municipality of Stroncone). Nevertheless, the pasta was very creamy...and the truffles were mainly grated "on top" of the pasta. The "Saltimbocca umbra" was simply a dream: the meat was very tender. You could especially taste the sage (I think it was sage) in the meat, as well as the wine. And the sauce was mainly a mixture of olive oil and white wine, which is inevitable. Fried potatoes were served with it. I think the photo speaks volumes: super crispy and very tasty. I quite like the typical unsalted bread. The espresso was good, of course. There were three of us there...hence the photos of their appetizers and main courses. Among other things, the cannelloni were delicious: a good "bite" with a slightly burnt outer layer and a soft interior. The red sauce and the cheese tasted wonderful. Todi itself is a little gem. Very convenient: a cogwheel train goes directly from the parking lot up to the panoramic square, from where you can get a great view of Todi...as well as down into the valley. The cable car is free, by the way. It essentially works like an elevator: you can press the button at any time...and the train takes off. Parking does cost a bit, but the prices are quite reasonable. In any case, I can highly recommend the restaurant for its food and service, especially since the price-performance ratio is definitely reasonable. I hope this restaurant will stay with us for a long time.

We stopped at this Osteria in the center of Todi on our way back from a rainy tour of Umbria. Excellent choice for both food and service. Try the beans with pork rinds and the traditional Umbrian platter. We'll definitely be back.

During our evening at Osteria Valle in Todi, we had a truly special experience, one that goes far beyond the simple pleasure of good food. But what made our dinner unforgettable was Anna's hospitality, who, with great kindness and sensitivity, took the time to find paper and colors for the son of a couple of friends who were staying with us to draw. A simple gesture, yet full of thoughtfulness and humanity, demonstrating the passion and care this osteria dedicates to each guest, young and old. It's rare to find a place where you truly feel at home, welcomed as a friend and not just a customer. At Osteria Valle, this truly happens. I highly recommend stopping here: for the delicious food, the warm and friendly atmosphere, and above all, the extraordinary hospitality that makes all the difference. We can't wait to return!

Everything was excellent, from the appetizer (burrata and truffle crouton). The cockerel alla diavola was truly remarkable (very tender with a delicious sauce). To finish, the tiramisu was delicious. Full marks!

Passing through Todi we had lunch at this Osteria. Few but selected dishes based essentially on local cuisine. Excellent taste and average portions. Kindness and helpfulness of the staff. Parking difficult given the "hidden" location of the place. Overall a good place that I suggest trying if in the area.
