03/12/2024: Saturday evening, dinner with friends at the Dodicivolte restaurant in Mazzo di Rho (next to the church) proved to be a pleasant diversion.
The Dodicivolte Restaurant (we go there 1, 2 times a year) offers mainly regional Italian cuisine, not just Lombard, in the modernized tradition of Trattorias and Osterias: therefore meat and fish.
I booked this restaurant starting from the link on the restaurant's website, finding it convenient.
You receive an email confirming receipt of the booking, you wait for the confirmation which arrives the same day: a small flaw, the guests of the evening are not mentioned: There were 7 of us and you still have a minimum of apprehension.
The room created inside an old renovated farmhouse is large and bright, very well looked after and clean. Accessible, among other things, to people in wheelchairs in all its rooms, including the toilets.
Overall courteous and professional service, considering that we were on a Saturday evening and the place was full.
Overall the experience in the restaurant was excellent, friendly and helpful staff, rustic place reminds us of the trattorias of the past, well looked after.
The à la carte menu offers a sufficiently wide but not excessive choice of dishes that could disorientate, well balanced between refinement and innovation, everything is pleasantly in line with the venue.
Coming to us, as mentioned there were 7 of us, we drew heavily, differentiating almost all the dishes chosen in such a way as to obtain maximum yield.
We started with various appetizers, all of reasonable quality: Burratina with Sicilian caponata of aubergines and peppers - Culaccia with vegetable giardiniera - Boiled chicken in salad with raisins, candied citron and capers - Chicken liver pâté with jams and croutons - yellow lentils on savory tartlet, dried tomato and walnut pesto - Cod creamed in extra virgin olive oil with bruschettas.
We then moved on to the second courses, except for one who chose Paccheri with fresh tuna ragout.
So Seafood Bake (swordfish, croaker, squid, prawns) with cherry tomatoes, olives and capers - Aromatic sliced beef grilled with soy sauce and rosemary - Beef stew with Barbera, served with Storo polenta - Pork cheeks braised in white wine with polenta from Storo - Grilled tuna steak with oil, soy sauce and toasted sesame seeds.
All the dishes were found to be of excellent preparation and excellent quality.
Here too a small flaw, the portions are sufficient, no more.
Overall a pleasant evening, excellent quality of the dishes chosen although not abundant.
