Osteria L'Upupa In San miniato

The truffle pasta is very good, the service is fast and courteous. But please, put on air conditioning or at least a fan, you can't breathe in here in August.

I walked in wanting something quick and affordable for lunch, and came out totally impressed. I had the gnocchi with cheese, pepper, pear and nuts, and a very elegant glass of red wine recommended by the waiter.

It is a curious place, very small in a half-lost town in Tuscany. Many dishes with truffles, well prepared and very delicious. It has few tables and is not cheap, but it is quick to serve and the food was very delicious.

What to say? Truly a beautiful discovery! Arriving from Florence on 12 June 2024 for a relaxing day I had lunch in this Osteria and was completely satisfied. Discovered by chance on Google while I was walking around the town which, among other things, is very beautiful to visit, beautiful panoramic view from the Torre del Barbarossa. Really very nice place, nice and welcoming. Very nice furnishings, simple and in tune with the environment of the country. Above all, the paintings and prints from the 50s and 60s are beautiful. Staff, the guy who followed me and also recommended various dishes, was really very kind and approachable. Excellent food!!! Fresh truffles and gnocchi cooked very very well. Delicious mushroom salad, one of the best I've ever eaten. Excellent food and wine pairing. Really delicate fresh pasta (gnocchi). Very recommended for lunch and dinner.

Top marks with honors for this tavern located on the main street of San Miniato Alto. The place is small so I recommend booking in advance. Excellent quality food: we had the Tuscan crostini as a starter, followed by a sliced ​​steak with black truffle, while my girlfriend had the gnocchi alla cacio e pepe with pears and walnuts, to finish with a truffle mousse which was truly a goodie. All really good. Furthermore, the lady who served us was very nice and kind, I would happily go back. Fair price: less than €40 each with two of water and a glass of wine)

Massimo dei voti con lode per questa osteria che si trova sulla via principale di San Miniato Alto. Il locale è piccolino quindi vi consiglio di prenotare in anticipo. Cibo di un'ottima qualità: abbiamo preso come antipasto i crostini toscani, a seguire io una tagliata al tartufo nero, mentre la mia ragazza gli gnocchi alla cacio e pepe con pere, per chiudere una mousse al tartufo che è stata davvero una chicca. Tutto veramente buono. Inoltre la signora che ci ha servito è stata molto simpatica e gentile, ci tornerei molto volentieri. Prezzo giusto: meno di 40€ a testa con due di acqua e un calice di vino)

Went to this restaurant on recommendation from Trip Advisor…and it seriously didn’t disappoint. A small family run restaurant, food was simple but packed with flavour and very well priced. Atmosphere was great and the staff helpful, accommodating and just polite. Certainly recommend you visit this small restaurant when you are in the area.

Among the best taverns I've ever tried, it's worth it especially for the starters, Osteria l'Upupa is a hidden treasure that enchants the senses with its authentic cuisine and extraordinary dishes. As soon as you enter, you are greeted by a welcoming and warm atmosphere that evokes the unique, ancient charm of distant memories. Family run where there is friendliness and hospitality. I recommend tasting the dishes with truffles. Delicious food, like a real tavern. We had a very good time and we liked the friendly and friendly service. The environment is typical of a tavern, and is well furnished. Definitely coming back. Sincere congratulations.
