Osteria La Montanara In Canazei

I had a classic! Polenta with mushrooms, to be on the safe side. It seemed like a reheated dish, not freshly made! Dry and flavorless mushrooms, no broth whatsoever. Lukewarm polenta. Disappointed!

We've been here 4 years running but won't come again. The atmosphere is great and the food is OK to good. But who wants to have your main delivered inside 3 minutes, your plates cleared the moment you put the last fork to your mouth, with the desert waitress querying you seconds later. Your meal is finished well within your alloted time, which seems to be their one and only focus. Every restaurant has to deal with 'sittings'. Thankfully most others focus on their customer experience. This place is paranoid about, and drilled to get you out the door as soon as they can. They just need to chill a bit. You will have a nice meal in a great place. But you will be, unnecessarily, rushed and you might feel disappointed about that. It might sour your evening.

I went there for dinner with my family, and it's a truly fantastic place. The staff pays great attention to detail, making you feel truly pampered. The food is incredibly good, with huge portions. The atmosphere is just what you'd expect: warm and familiar, but also with a friendly touch. Recommended for anyone who wants to spend an evening with friends in that old-fashioned joviality!
