Osteria la Massaia In Roma

It's an osteria, okay, the name itself says it, but don't expect osteria food. The environment is open, the place is not very large, but more than enough, even if to meet the many requests for tables, the available space is a bit limited. A bit noisy, certainly, but the environment is cheerful and informal, it's difficult to see long faces or overly polite people, although there is no shortage of jackets and ties and designer suits. That said, the food. The menu is inspired by the territory of origin of the owner and chef Gennaro, but not only Cilento and the Sorrento peninsula, with digressions, for desserts, also towards Sicily (exquisite cassatine and cannoli to say the least). It's not a menu for the lukewarm. The flavors are full, the taste is strong. But everything is kept, well mixed, seasoned, and with the right aromas, without being invasive. I think that everything reflects the verve of Gennaro, a true host, attentive and light-hearted, assisted in the dining room by his sister Michela, kind and helpful, like all the rest of the staff. If you are looking for silence and little noise, muffled environments, this is not the place for you. I am fine, especially dining in company. The strong point of the location is the terrace, open for the summer. I know, there may be flaws, for hardened purists, but never on the food or hospitality. Prices appropriate to the food.

Good quality food. Excessively convivial atmosphere even for a Roman. A bit improvised service. It may be an osteria but given the prices a cloth napkin would not be excessive

Varied menu, based on fish and meat, typical of Neapolitan cuisine. Appetizer roasted octopus, first course pasta and potatoes, second course sea bass rolls with crumbled bread, perhaps a little too full of crumbs but very good. Everything fresh. Excellent desserts. I had a well-soaked babà, with a tasty flavor. Recently renovated place. It tastes like the sea. The room is a little small and the tables are a little close together, but in the summer there is also a nice terrace. Kind and helpful staff. The only flaw, reviewing the menu sheet too worn and manipulated, it does not present well. Good quality/price ratio

Great food, excellent service. The prices are fair in my opinion, for the quality of the food. Gennaro, the owner of the place, recommended a barrel-aged Soave. Truly excellent. It's the first time in my life that I've drunk a barrel-aged white.

Fantastic place. The food is mouthwatering!!! Sicilian cuisine at its best. Fabulous fish dishes. Try the pulpo and the raviolo with Alici sauce!!!

Locale piccolo ma curato, con molti riferimenti alla costiera amalfitana. Tavoli vicini uno all’altro, forse troppo , con sedie non comode. Il menu, di vecchio stampo, propone sia piatti di pesce che di carne. Io ho mangiato una tagliata di tonno rosso e della cicoria. Il pesce è sicuramente molto buono. Pane fresco e buono. Personale gentile ma con poca esperienza. Prezzi medio alto. Sinceramente troppa confusione seppur ho mangiato bene .
