Among many places around Venice, the Lanterna is absolutely the best for the quality of the food, friendliness and skill of the owner!!!
In addition to the special location, the courses are no exception... First an exquisite and colorful fish appetizer, then a scenic and fragrant salted sea bass, accompanied by delicious grilled vegetables, served directly in the still flaming pan!
All accompanied by a good bottle of white wine in the tranquility of Campiello Mosca!!!
Excellent value for money. Impossible not to go back!

Magical place, beautiful typical Venetian atmosphere. Excellent food and service, I have truly never found a place like this in Venice which is now totally touristy. Not to mention the very friendly owner who makes you feel like you are at home. Never found a place like this.

“Venice to eat”
We arrived at this little restaurant by chance, and even luckily I would add in hindsight!! A truly enchanting and well-kept place, the owner is decidedly friendly and there is absolutely nothing to complain about the cuisine, delicious fish and dishes cooked with skill!! We stopped time for an hour without being overwhelmed by the typical chaos of Venice, compliments to the "Lanterna". HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

La Lanterna in Venice is a hidden gem nestled in the charming campiello Mosca. From the moment I walked in, I was struck by the warm, welcoming atmosphere and the attentive service. The menu is a seafood lover’s dream, showcasing the freshest catch with simple yet elegant preparations.
I started with the *saltata* of clams and mussels, which was a delight. The shellfish were fresh, and the white wine and garlic broth added just the right amount of flavor without overpowering the natural taste of the seafood. The *frittura mista* was another highlight, with its light, crispy batter that perfectly encased tender calamari and shrimp.
The main course, an oven-baked *branzino*, was cooked to perfection. The fish was moist, with a crisp skin that added a wonderful texture. It was simply seasoned, allowing the sweetness of the branzino to stand out. A side of roasted vegetables complemented the dish beautifully.
Overall, La Lanterna offers a fantastic seafood experience in a setting that is both charming and unpretentious. It's a must-visit for anyone in Venice looking for a memorable meal.

My partner and I enjoyed excellent lasagna and perfect carbonara. There was also a good choice of wine, and the staff were really welcoming. And all this for a really decent price. It was a perfect first restaurant in town!

Excellent food and wine. Even though we are only here 2 nights we may come back tomorrow night. Excellent selection and very well done food. Very reasonable prices, had several drinks per person, apps, and main dishes and the tab was right at 200

A bitter reminder of all the reason we stay in a flat in Venice, go to the market for food and wine unless necessary or sure of the restaurant and lastly save extortionate amounts of money.
Very crowded space more like a bar done up as a restaurant. Tiny tables, paper tablecloths cover only half, don't need a little plastic flower arrangement given limited surface area.
Bread was good and grissini salty. Seafood spaghetti actually involved cooking and had good flavour, though a couple of the clams had not opened and needed discarding.
A fillet of beef ordered medium came rare, which is fine if it is good quality. This was not, big chunk of gristle down one side. After three barely chewable mouthfuls, eventually attracted attention of waitress chatting to chef and she said so sorry I'll get you another one. Three minutes later remains of the dish was returned having been seared to crusty on the outside and still chewy rare inside. And greasy grilled vegetables by now reduced to mush. Gave up at this point. Clearing away the plates she made no attempt to ask what was wrong with the remains.
House red is light and fizzy, drinkable but at 10 euros not a good comparison with most respectable eating places.
Lunch in Venice is a nightmare, they know you are almost certainly a daytripper. But dinner you may well come back.
Not if the food is like this.
No other Italian voices at the other tables. Unlike such as Alla Vedova or Osteria Mocenigo.
