Old-fashioned tavern, good food, informal atmosphere.

It's a real osteria, a bit spartan as it should be. The kind of place where you'll find people playing cards, the owner a bit tipsy or smoking in the room just before closing time. The food is very good, but I have to admit they may have raised the prices. First course, second course, dessert, and coffee (with house wine) for €52 per person. Perhaps a bit too much for this type of place.

Good food, reasonable value, friendly staff. The place is dated but fairly central.

Excellent Osteria in beautiful Cremona. I ate regularly at Il Foppone when I lived here 20 years ago and I couldn't wait to revisit with my partner. So, so glad that we did. Full of local people, which is always a good sign, it's a great place to eat as the food is fabulous. We visited on a Saturday evening, were taken to our table, ordered the classic half a litre of house red, sat and chatted and chose our food. Waitress was kind and courteous, food was absolutely top notch, we were left to take our time and enjoy. Excellent price for the quality of food, would highly recommend and will revisit when we are next in town. Sadly we had only 3 nights in Cremona so didn't have chance to visit again as we were here Saturday to Tuesday. Keep an eye on opening times as it is closed Monday evening and all day Tuesday. Highly, highly recommend for excellent food.

Today, a trip to Cremona to buy some salami and marubini to eat next Sunday, since it's going to be freezing cold. But I digress, lucky day because we stumbled upon Osteria Il Foppone, where we found good food. We skipped the first course and immediately ordered two second courses (stew and peas with polenta and grilled fillet steak) + two side dishes (caponata [excellent] and baked potatoes) with half a liter of house white wine and half a liter of water. If we'd been hungry again, I would have ordered more. We didn't need to, because everything was very good and plentiful. Two coffees with sambuca and a slice of dessert were just a treat we shared. My only criticism, but one I absolutely recommend, is to ask the customer how they'd like their meat cooked when ordering it. The fillet steak was way underdone, so we ended up having to swap second courses between my wife and I because she doesn't eat undercooked meat. Absolutely competitive prices. I highly recommend anyone visiting Cremona to stop by this osteria because you won't be disappointed.

Real boiled meat, real people. I always love coming back because the food is divine and the owners are even nicer than the food. This is the Cremona that deserves to be told.
