Fra' Pellizza, a journey through Roman flavors in Casteggio
Found by chance on the internet, now my partner and I won't let go!
Fra' Pellizza is a gastronomic pearl in the heart of Casteggio, a place where Roman tradition comes to life in every dish.
Carlo, the owner, a truly fantastic person, is a true Roman and welcomes every guest with warmth and dedication, making you feel at home from the first moment.
His staff is equally exceptional: delightful guys, always smiling and ready to recommend with great preparation the perfect wine for each course. The place is very well-kept, a real pleasure for the eyes that anticipates the journey of taste that is about to begin.
Fra' Pellizza knows how to win you over:
The carbonara? The best I've ever tried!!!!! The amatriciana? Unforgettable. And then traditional dishes like coda alla vaccinara, which leave their mark and make you want to come back again and again.
And the desserts?? An experience that ends the meal in style! A creamy and irresistible tiramisu, a real treat that immediately makes your mouth water and makes you want to come back!!
To accompany everything, a well-stocked cellar well displayed with wines from every corner of Italy, perfect for enhancing each dish and making the experience even more special.
All this at a very fair price that makes the experience a pleasure to be enjoyed without hesitation.
Fra' Pellizza is much more than a restaurant, it is a place where you experience cuisine with authenticity and passion. Top!
Try it and believe it!!!!

Aperto nell'ottobre del 2015. Parcheggio in strada.
Vino:
- Oltrepò Pavese DOCG Metodo Classico Pinot Nero Extra Brut "La Genisia" az. Torrevilla.
Pane bianco di produzione artigianale.
ANTIPASTI:

- calamarata zola e gambero (è un primo).
DESSERT:
- cassola (dolce della tradizione romana, ricotta, uvetta e cannella).
- tiramisù espresso (nonèilsolitotiramisù settepiacelacremaèperte).
Caffè a chiudere.
The Osteria Fra' Pellizza in Casteggio (PV) offers a culinary experience that deserves attention. The environment is clean and welcoming, and the staff shows remarkable kindness in table service. Particular praise goes to the chef, who explains his dishes with love and passion, conveying the care he dedicates to each creation.
I had the pleasure of starting dinner with a Fassona dish, characterized by a balanced and delicious seasoning. Followed by a krokkante artichoke, which I highly recommend to anyone who visits the place. To conclude, I savored lamb chops styled with fingerlings, a true joy for the calm and convivial palate, made even more pleasant by the company of friends and a good glass of wine. The wine list is extensive and will satisfy even the most demanding palates.
As regards the cost, I believe that it is fully consistent with the high quality of the products and the service offered. The only aspect that could be improved was the entrance to the restaurant, which was in slight disarray due to an unexpected delivery of cases of wine. However, the owner explained the small inconvenience, demonstrating a willingness to remedy it.
I highly recommend this tavern for a convivial evening in the company of friends, full of good food, excellent wine and a relaxed atmosphere.

Intrigued by the type of proposals, we went with the family to this place. Impeccable atmosphere and service, excellent dishes. Very honest price and on average with the usual expense of the four of us. Friendly and knowledgeable owner. We will be back.

A dive into Trasteverina Rome in Casteggio in Oltrepò Pavese. The knowledgeable culinary culture and professionalism and friendliness of Chef Carlo Pellizzardi Romano docg take us back to the atmosphere of Rome.
The starters are excellent, among which the Carciofi alla Giudìa stand out, the classic first courses Carbonara, Cacio&Pepe and Alla Griccia, to move on to the fantastic second courses including the Abbacchio a Scottadito, Saltimbocca alla Romana and the Coda alla Vaccinara. Followed by a wide selection of desserts and a special mention to the cellar where the best wines of the Oltrepò Pavese are complemented by a vast range of wines from Lazio.
Absolutely worth trying.
