The restaurant is located on the ground floor of a residential building - with long narrow shape resembling a shop more than a restaurant. The interior is simple and informal, yet clean, with nice wooden tables. However, the initial welcome already felt a bit awkward (even though we had a booking). I’m not sure whether we chose the wrong time (a Friday evening in December), but throughout the evening I had the impression that most of the staff were temporary or inexperienced.
For most of the night, we were served by a very young waiter who was very polite and managed to communicate in English reasonably well. Even so, he often seemed confused and insecure, frequently checking with colleagues before answering even basic questions. At one point, another waitress started clearing some empty plates while we were still in the middle of a course 😳
As for the food, we chose the chef’s tasting menu. The clear highlight for me was the risotto with fermented pumpkin, which will definitely stay in my memory. The soup with ravioli was also excellent. However, several of the courses felt rather average, and I wasn’t entirely happy with the overall composition of the menu — across ten courses, there were only fish included and no other meat (aside from the ravioli filled with lamb offal). With some dishes, I had the impression that the chef was aiming to be “world famous,” but the flavor combinations didn’t quite make sense.
Out of the few days we spent in Rome, this was the restaurant I was most looking forward to. Unfortunately, I left feeling disappointed.

Our experience at this Italian fine-dining restaurant was absolutely superb! From the moment we walked in, the staff was incredibly welcoming, friendly, and professional, making us feel right at home. The ambiance was perfect for an intimate evening, with ample space between tables ensuring a private and relaxed dining experience.
We opted for the 10-course tasting menu, and each dish was a culinary masterpiece – a true journey through authentic Italian flavors with a refined touch. The quality of the ingredients and the artistry of the presentation were outstanding. Considering the exceptional quality of the food, service, and atmosphere, the price was surprisingly affordable, offering incredible value for a gastronomic experience of this caliber. A gastronomic experience comparable to a visit to a museum, with complex and unusual pairings. Excellent service and wine selection. Pleasant music and atmosphere. Improvements in service are possible, wiping down the table and not pointing at the dishes when they are presented.

Osteria Fernanda is a very nice restaurant with a pleasant atmosphere and excellent service. We received a very warm welcome from the entire staff.
A large wine collection is beautifully presented. The waiter gave us (a family of six) excellent advice on wine selection. We chose a local red wine from Lazio and were very pleased with it. When ordering the set menus, we were specifically asked about any allergies.
The amuse-bouche was a delightful surprise. It was presented with great skill and care. The staff also explained each course.
Some of us ordered à la carte. One person ordered the 10-course tasting menu. He raved about the presentation and the explosion of flavors.
We had a wonderful evening, thanks to the wonderful host.
We highly recommend this restaurant. Please make a reservation.

We tried the curious artisan menu with wine pairings for dinner for two. The experience was unforgettable, and the dishes were of the highest quality. The grilled oyster with lard is indescribable.
However, this restaurant could aim for a Michelin star simply by ironing out a few service imperfections (e.g., the prosecco was spilled, dripped onto the table, and wasn't cleaned; or, the butter dish remained on the table for more than four courses, despite being already empty).
The interior is very refined and elegant, contrasting with the exterior, which at first glance may appear a bit spooky; however, as soon as you enter this restaurant, you'll forget all about it, enveloped in a welcoming and refined atmosphere.

We had a 7-course tasting menu and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The food was delicious, creative and beautifully balanced. Each course felt thoughtful and precise, with outstanding ingredients and flawless execution. Every bite was full of flavour and pleasantly surprised us. The pacing of the meal was perfect, the presentation stunning, and the service attentive without being intrusive. Highly recommended!
