Osteria dell'Oca In Mantova

A welcoming, homey atmosphere, very friendly staff. I made a reservation for the second sitting at 9:30 PM; the place was packed (which gives me hope). The pumpkin tortelli with butter and sage were very good, though the portions were a bit small. For my second course, I ordered the musso with polenta: the donkey meat was a bit bland and not very tender, a bit of a disappointment. A bottle of mineral water, 1/4 of the house Lambrusco, and coffee were included. Total cost: €48. The prices are clearly displayed on the menu, but in my opinion, they're a far cry from the prices of a typical osteria/trattoria. It's my first time dining in Mantua, and I don't know the average prices for other restaurants, but I wasn't entirely satisfied. Given the osteria's reputation, I expected more.

A quaint restaurant with traditional cuisine and friendly service. The Drunkards' Risotto is delicious!

I'm not a big fan of meat, so I wasn't keen on the menu, but the tagliatelle was thinner and more delicate than at other restaurants, and had a comforting flavor. The light sauce with shredded duck was topped with plenty of cheese. I didn't order the main meat dish, but everyone around me said it looked delicious. This was one of the few restaurants during our four-week trip to Italy that made me want to return. My husband also tried the dessert, which looked delicious. When we visited, dinner was served from 19:30 in the first half and 21:00 in the second half. It was a shame there were no seasonal vegetable dishes, but that was the case at most restaurants.

Such a special restaurant; delicious traditional Mantua dishes - especially perfect risotto - tender, rosemary scented lamb. Friendly genuine service. And a lovely atmosphere. A restaurant that welcomes old couples (like us!), young families, young people out having fun. It all creates a wonderful ambiance of everyone enjoying delicious, affordable, authentic food. Easily the best address in Mantua and a privilege to eat here. Thank you to the whole team.

The atmosphere is very simple, but it's worth considering it's an osteria. The food is very good, the prices are reasonable, and the staff is very friendly. Definitely recommended.

A lovely place with a beautiful stone ceiling, chairs, and tables reminiscent of a true osteria. Good table service, with plenty of young, knowledgeable, and friendly waiters. The food was delicious, from the cured meats for the appetizer to the stew with polenta and pumpkin. The sbrisolona was delicious, accompanied by an excellent zabaglione. Perhaps the only thing that wasn't my cup of tea was the pizza my son ordered (which he finished anyway). There were three of us, and with an appetizer, a pizza, a first course, an off-menu item, two desserts, a Coke, and water, it came to €70. Kudos to the management. We'll definitely be back when we're in Mantua again.

Osteria piccolina ma molto caratteristica, ha un suo perché. Servizio rapido e professionale, qualche sorriso non guasterebbe. Antipasti e primi buonissimi e porzioni abbondanti. Dolci squisiti. Molto particolare il fatto che le pietanze vengono servite in piatti di rame, da' un tocco di retro '. Unico appunto, la polenta un po' anonima e senza sapore. Prezzo leggermente sopra la media, ma cmq rapporto qualità/prezzo abbastanza buono. Siamo usciti pienamente soddisfatti. Consigliato.

Locale molto organizzato, indispensabile prenotare. Piatti della tradizione, abbiamo mangiato dell'ottimo coniglio e un buonissimo primo. Servizio buono, prezzi onesti, ambiente accogliente. Da provare
