We had the pleasure of having lunch at the Osteria delle Catene in San Gimignano and it was a wonderful experience! Gino and Virgilio are two exceptional restaurateurs: kind, welcoming and professional. We started with a platter of typical cured meats and cheeses, really excellent, and then enjoyed some pappardelle with mushroom and truffle cream, simply spectacular! All accompanied by two excellent glasses of wine: a Chianti and a Vernaccia, both worthy of note. We highly recommend this tavern for anyone who wants to live an experience full of taste and quality. Compliments!

Passing through San Gimignano you cannot fail to stop and eat in this excellent Osteria. We took the crostini with liver pate as a starter and pici with leek and saffron and pici with black cabbage as two first courses. Everything was really great!! Impeccable service and a traditional and very welcoming location. If you want to taste good Tuscan food come here!!

Pleasant atmosphere, combining with the medieval atmosphere of the city. Attentive waiters and excellent food. We ordered the pappardelle with mushroom and tartufo sauce, very tasty and reasonably priced.

L'accueil est impeccable et francophone. Le personnel conseille amicalement et avec compétence pour le choix des mets et des vins. La cuisine est au niveau et n'a déçu personne. Il faut absolument goûter la pana cotta au safran.

We were recommended to this restaurant by our host at our B&B. We sampled the platter of local meats, cheese and liver pate on bread served warm. Yum. For main my wife had the roast lamb and for me the wild boar tavern style served with a side of grilled vegetables. WOW. This boar was rich and super tasty and fell apart in the ramekin. The lamb equally tender and tasty. Very reasonably priced and

Ristorante in una via leggermente defilata trovato per caso appena arrivati a San Gimignano. Abbiamo ordinato il gran tagliere sia i salumi che il fornlmaggio erano ottimi così come le composte di accompagnamento. Come primo abbiamo preso i pici con zafferano, porri e pecorino...ottimi. Il personale gentilissimo. Il prezzo assolutamente corretto vista la qualità e quantità delle portate.

29/01/2025: There's a birthday to celebrate and today we want to overdo it tonight the twenty-ninth of January which one do we choose as a spoon? we have always had a good time with Elena and Remo and this time too we will return to Monteriggioni. They placed us next to the fireplace, the two of us enjoyed: - a pumpkin flan, leek cream, porcini mushrooms and hazelnut crumble - a homemade tagliolini with 24 egg yolks, creamed with home-made butter, truffle and grated fresh truffle - a rack of lamb cooked at low temperature, its stock, American potato and its chips - a wild boar from the castle with Chianti Classico, red fruit reduction, polenta chips and caper powder - two side dishes - and finally two spicy chocolate desserts (excellent) - plus obviously two glasses of Chianti Classico Riserva We had a wonderful time, everything was good and the service was attentive and kind. P.S. The meat dishes such as the Chianina steak or the Florentine steak, which we have had on other occasions, are also highly recommended.
26/01/2025: We were very pleasantly surprised to find a restaurant where everything is homemade. They make their wheat, their flour on site as well as their pasta. The dishes are excellent and don't miss the desserts. All in a nice setting at a reasonable price. The staff is very friendly, highly recommended.

20/02/2025: Lovely spot for lunch on our drive back to Montepulciano. Crostini, pici pomodoro, and vegetable antipasti were fabulous.
15/02/2025: Very nice, welcoming and warm place. The trained and punctual staff advised us on the dishes to order. Food prepared well and cooked well according to tradition. The ribollita is excellent!! The pasta (pici or tagliolini) alla cinta senese is also good. Generous portions. I highly recommend it!
