Happy to have stumbled upon this lovely restaurant with delicious seasonal food. Small portions (that’s a plus) of fresh healthy ingredients. Charming wait staff.

Edited - We went back here two years later - the food, the service, the ambiente is at least as good as the first time if not better. Our dietary restrictions (gluten free, egg free, vegetarian) were taken care off effortlessly. Our dog was welcome, the white truffle was sublime and abundant! We come to Florence every 1-2 years and know most high class restaurants - this was and is the best in the city. I wish one would open here in NYC - this restaurant and staff alone are worth the trip though! Original - Absolutely wonderful place. The room itself has been beautifully restored in a tastefully modern style. The menu is a high class take on Tuscan fare. The food and wine were of absolute highest quality. Besides the beautiful ambiente, the great food, and amazing wine, the team and service are outstanding. Especially the maitre, Serena, is highly professional, warm, and always concerned about her guests experience! We enjoyed our lunch experience so much, that we returned for dinner two days later!

Wonderful place. Really excellent food, charming room, delightful service. Outstanding location too, though they are not trading on it. Apparently owned by the family behind Ferragamo, which I didn’t check but which might explain the exacting standards (though the vibe is relaxed). We stumbled upon it for lunch. Would love to return for dinner.

As a travel advisor and restaurant reviewer, I went to Il Borro Tuscan Bistro ready for an exquisite dining experience. I was hugely disappointed! It’s a true shame because the cuisine was very well prepared. Everything else was a disaster. We were seated straight away and then left there with no attention for about 10 min. Finally, I flagged a server who brought menus and took our drink order. Then, nothing again! I asked for a server and two people told me their colleague would come to help us. Why does it take three people to take our order? We asked for butter. It was forgotten. We asked again. Nothing. We asked a different server and finally, we received the butter, already halfway through our bread and our appetizer. Things didn’t get better from a service perspective and although the food was quite nice, it wasn’t good enough to compensate for the poor service. The server even apologized because she knew it was bad service and when she was apologizing, she said, “I’m doing the best that I can”, in a loud voice which caused customers at the nearby tables to turn and look at us as if we were complaining. We hadn’t said a word at that point! So embarrassing. We requested the bill three times before it was brought to us. Needless to say, we will never return and I certainly won’t recommend this restaurant to my travel clients.

The fiorentina polpette were so good 😍 the atmosphere was warm, we felt really welcomed. The wine glas was expensive but good.

A unique cheese and wine selection, fantastic prosciutto, and very competent, friendly, and attentive service. We were able to taste the wine by the glass before making our selection, and the wine was also excellent! Highly recommended!

A local gem! Julio and Ludovica were absolutely wonderful hosts! The service was warm, personal, and made us feel right at home. We enjoyed a hand-picked cheese tray featuring local products, each one introduced with care and knowledge. Both spoke fluent English and shared fascinating insights into local social customs, making the experience even more special. A perfect blend of authentic Tuscan flavors and genuine hospitality — highly recommended!
