Exciting idea, disappointing execution
The concept sounds interesting – traditional dishes reinterpreted. Unfortunately, the result was disappointing: spaghetti was bitter and tasted of grass, trout was oversalted, sheep's stew was unspectacular, and chicken was pale and sad. The "salad for dessert" (photo) was more curious than tasty. No deception or tourist trap – just very unusual dishes that we didn't particularly enjoy, even though we do enjoy experimental food.
But the location is truly amazing, and the service is excellent, too.

I was here with my family for lunch and I have to say everything was excellent!!! Despite it being very crowded, the wait wasn't long, and the prices weren't excessive for the quality of the dishes served. The canestrato and the chicken were delicious, and the desserts were exceptional. The service was also very friendly and attentive, and the location was amazing with a terrace overlooking the valley. Everyone was great!

Locanda Sotto Gli Archi is a beautiful, historic spot in Santo Stefano di Sessanio. The atmosphere is warm and authentic, with antique charm and a cozy vibe. The food is traditional and full of flavour Friendly staff and a truly memorable experience. Highly recommended.

Let's be honest, you're paying for the location, which is one of a kind. Otherwise, the portions are meager and the food is average, with high prices. Still, worth a try (only) once. I obviously wouldn't return.
