Osteria Cavolo Nero In Empoli

Extremely good food!! 😍 Also affordable. I went on the first night of my stay and came back on the last. Very good prices, the gentleman here is very kind. I recommend this restaurant!

Excellent food and welcoming atmosphere! Recommended!

A small, family-run restaurant in the pedestrian area, very quiet and welcoming. Food is freshly prepared with care by the lady in the kitchen, offering a good selection of dishes inspired by Tuscan tradition (I found the pappa al pomodoro meatballs excellent), excellent cured meats and local pecorino cheese, and a good selection of wines. To finish, homemade cantuccini and an excellent vin santo, all at a very fair price; this is what you'll find at Osteria del Cavolo Nero. A must-try for those unfamiliar with it, and for us, a place we'll return to whenever we have the opportunity to visit Empoli.

We dined out the week after mid-August: there wasn't a restaurant open around; everyone was on vacation. They "saved" us. The restaurant is small, but it's cute inside, and outside you dine under umbrellas on iron chairs. The problem with this historic center is the presence of a sewer smell at times. It's not a problem with the restaurant, but we noticed that people eating inside were suffering from the heat. Excellent food, superb pappa pomodoro and ravioli. Very efficient service. Prices are normal. Well done.

Very small family run place, good dishes as if they were homemade

We dined at the tables outside and the atmosphere wasn't the best because the city center isn't really that great and the sewer pizza was everywhere (obviously not the restaurant's fault). We had two well-made and tasty first courses but nothing exceptional, even if my tortelli with tripe were a bit salty. The wine by the glass was good.

We had an unexpectedly delicious lunch. We had ravioli and cappellacci, very tasty and highly recommended for lunch. Small outdoor terrace.

Very tasty, great service, very intuitive and attentive to the customer's expectations. Great prices. I recommend it.

Felt like a home cooked meal. We walked in not long after they opened on a Monday evening without a reservation - was greeted warmly and looked after from then on. It felt like we were in someone's home (albeit with a lot of wine adorning the walls!). Food was pleasant but very simple and rustic. Go in with that in mind to ensure it's what you're looking for. We didn't have any preconceptions, but were pleasantly surprised. Wine options were extensive! Cosy feel, only downside however, there was no music or anything to enhance the atmosphere when we were the first and only customers - it was very quiet. As we were leaving the place had filled up some more which seemed to help the vibe.
