Osteria Castel Vecchio, overlooking a large square with convenient parking, is a simple but authentic place, perfect for those who want to savor traditional Mantuan dishes in an informal setting. The appetizer of cured meats with giardiniera opened the meal with taste, followed by well-executed first courses, in particular the tortelli with bitter herbs, a true specialty of the area and absolutely recommended. The tagliata was a bit subdued, however, as it was overcooked and not very tasty: better to focus on the typical dishes, which were more successful. The service was friendly. Also appreciable is the constant supply of bread and taralli, very good. Finally, the price is another strong point: with about 30 euros per person you can enjoy a complete meal in a simple but refined setting.

We booked last minute for Sunday lunch, we were lucky to find room for two seats. Menu offering traditional dishes, there are not many choice options but excellent food and quick service. Just ordered a few minutes of waiting and the dishes arrived. Highly recommended, very friendly, everything good and clean. I would like to go back passing through these parts.

Small trattoria that preserves the authenticity and flavors of the Mantua tradition. The tortello amaro from Castel Goffredo is excellent and the dish of the day is tagliolini with cod! The kindness and friendliness of the lady who served us are the added value. Excellent value for money. Highly recommended!
