Mamma mia.
There are restaurants that fill you up and restaurants that stay with you. Osteria Bonanni undoubtedly belongs to the latter category.
A quote from critic Anton Ego in Ratatouille came to mind: sometimes a flavor isn't just good, it opens a door to memory and takes you back to a place in your soul you thought was lost.
That's exactly what happened here.
Tasting the Livorno-style braciola, I saw my father again, intent on frying to perfection and then sautéing a slice of tender, juicy meat in tomato sauce. With the roast rabbit accompanied by stewed potatoes, scented with rosemary, my grandmother appeared, with her measured and expert gestures, the kind that transformed simple ingredients into unforgettable moments.
For a few moments, I wasn't simply dining: I was rediscovering people, loved ones, and fragments of life that time had hidden beneath the dust of days.
The cuisine at Osteria Bonanni doesn't seek special effects or unnecessary sophistication. It possesses something far rarer: authenticity, memory, and truth. It's a cuisine that speaks the language of Tuscan families, of Sundays that seemed eternal, of tables around which we learned the meaning of home.
I left feeling as if I had embraced those who are no longer with us and rediscovered a part of myself I had forgotten. And, in that moment, I felt at the height of one of the most precious things life can offer: gratitude for the most beautiful memories.
Thank you, Osteria Bonanni. You didn't just serve me dinner. You gave me back a piece of my heart. ❤️

It's definitely worth a try. Not one of my favorite osterias, but it's still worth it for the selection.
I find the quality of the products to be good, with excellent fresh cured meats. The porcini mushrooms in oil are truly delicious.
The meat (boiled beef, chop) is both good but honestly heavy, with too much oil. The chop, while good, technically speaking, wasn't breaded well, resulting in a soft texture. As for the boiled beef, I found it to have the exact same flavor as the Genoese-style meat. In fact, I wasn't expecting it because it said "sautéed in onions." I think it's fabulous because I love Genoese, but I'd prefer it to be written that way, so you can already get an idea of what you're getting.
As for the atmosphere, it's rustic inside and a bit warm, and unkempt outside, with broken tables and exposed nails. I'd definitely say it needs fixing because it's not attractive, as well as dangerous for children.
Once the table is set, it already looks better. I especially appreciated the cloth tablecloths and napkins, all clean and ironed. I appreciate it because this good habit has become obsolete.
The staff is a bit absent and forgettable. Except for the owner, who is very friendly and, quite the opposite, memorable.
The waits were a bit long.

Truly a special place and top-notch food! We've always had a great time; we live in the hills of Montelupo, and whenever we can, we go there for dinner! A little anecdote: I was on vacation in Bangkok, and some friends of friends and I discovered that they knew Capounto! It's a small world!

Osteria Bonanni, a guarantee. Maurilio and Roberta are the soul of this place, with their top-quality food, wonderful hospitality, professionalism, and attentive customer service—you can tell they're industry experts. If I had to choose where to go for dinner to celebrate a special day, I'd have no doubts: Roberta and Maurilio's. Highly recommended.

A rustic trattoria offering a wide and varied selection of traditional dishes for a tasteful journey through home-style Tuscan cuisine.
The owner is a real character, engaging and entertaining, explaining the dishes in a colorful manner with classic Tuscan flair, which blew us away.

It never disappoints, even after years.
The meat is fabulous...
It doesn't have the uaifai... as he calls it.
