Don't let the exterior fool you; as the saying goes, "the habit doesn't make the man!" Enter confidently and you'll find yourself catapulted into an atmosphere reminiscent of trattorias from the 1950s and 1960s, with a first room dominated by the bar and beautifully arranged tables. The second, larger room features tables arranged to allow guests a certain amount of privacy. The classic and impeccable table setting already speaks volumes about the quality of the service you'll find, accentuated by the presence of young, well-trained, attentive, and friendly staff—note: impeccably dressed, a rarity these days. All this serves as a sounding board for a cuisine that, thanks to the quality of its ingredients, the exquisite presentation of its dishes, and the size of its portions, will surely surprise you.
The extensive menu is a tribute to Lombard/Milanese cuisine, with a few more national and international offerings. The self-service drinks service is interesting; you're invited to use the three taps for water: one for sparkling water, one for chilled still water, and the third for room temperature water. A wooden vat with two taps provides a pleasant and easy-drinking house red wine. NOTE: WATER AND WINE ARE ALREADY INCLUDED IN THE MENU PRICES!!!
We started with a charcuterie board that included prosciutto, salami, and mortadella with pistachios; giardiniera (fresh pickled vegetables) that were definitely artisanal; and gnocchi that were delicious and not greasy, allowing us to appreciate the true flavor of the cured meats.
Next, we enjoyed the ossobuco in gremolada, rich in meat and accompanied by mashed potatoes, and the vitello tonnato (veal with tuna sauce), presented in an original way with the slices of meat arranged in a circular wave pattern, with the excellent, light sauce filling the spaces between them. Both were truly delicious. To finish off the desserts, we ordered a tartetatin, an apple pie covered in caramel served warm with vanilla ice cream, and the pistachio tiramisu, highly recommended and a real must.
A final pleasant surprise when it came to the bill was the waiver of a cover charge; it's a small detail, but it's worth mentioning.

The Osteria will serve you everything you need, from the appetizers with traditional cured meats and fritters, to the Milanese risotto with or without ossobuco, to the fantastic Milanese cutlet with souté potatoes. The house wine is delicious and unlimited. I recommend it 🤩
Oh, I forgot, the dessert is also worth it!

I found this place through word of mouth in the city. Excellent traditional dishes and super friendly staff. Another plus is the unlimited house wine and water. Highly recommended.
