The restaurant's strong points are its location in the historic center (reachable only on foot due to its location in the ZTL (limited traffic zone) with automatic license plate checks). Dining there is a fascinating way to experience this Tuscan city, famous for its intact Renaissance walls and thus its history, right across from Piazza dell'Anfiteatro, its most iconic symbol. The interior is perfectly in keeping with this mood, though it's not exactly family-friendly (and even the staff... try as they might... frown when the kids raise their voices, for example). As for the dishes, we sampled a warm appetizer with Asiago cheese and artichoke hearts, which was truly delicious, a selection of cured meats and cheeses, a risotto and tordelli lucchesi, a steak, and a dessert (pictured), as well as the traditional cantuccini and vin santo. Overall, we weren't thrilled except for the appetizer and dessert. For six adults, including three appetizers, three pasta dishes with tomato sauce for the kids, and three pasta dishes for us adults, a 1.2kg steak, four desserts, and two bottles of recommended wine, we paid €300. Honestly, if I were to return to Lucca, I'd try something else.

A place that exudes history and authenticity. Authentic Lucca flavors. The traditional Tuscan antipasto is truly a treat, allowing you to sample many Tuscan specialties. The first courses are generous: tordelli lucchesi and tagliatelle with wild boar ragù are truly special. Given the generous portions, we took the leftovers home to enjoy again the next day. A very kind woman served us. Of the many osterias I've tried in Lucca, this is undoubtedly one of the best.

For Friday night dinner, this restaurant offers two sittings: 7:30 PM and 9:30 PM. We went at 7:30 PM and the place was packed. We ordered two main courses, a peposo and a fillet steak, which unfortunately weren't great. The staff is very friendly and the place is very welcoming.

06/01/2026: We booked this restaurant a week in advance because we'd found it in the Michelin guide and were eager to try it. The restaurant is welcoming and well-maintained, the service is attentive to the customer's needs, and the meat dishes are truly excellent, as are the side dishes—a true delight for the palate. The price was in line with Lucca's prices. Highly recommended.

02/02/2026: Very welcoming and intimate, classic good quality food and above all not too touristy!
07/01/2026: We walked in without a reservation, and the blond, light-eyed, very smiling and helpful young man sat us down. We ordered and were quickly served: Lucchese-style lentil soup, EXCELLENT, a humble dish but with very well-balanced toppings, characteristically the best we've tasted in the Lucca area. Baked potatoes, EXCELLENT, a real DRUG... we literally drank them... among the best we've ever tasted. Truffle tagliolini, EXCELLENT, well-soaked with its creamy sauce and the quality of the truffle shavings excellent, the pasta cooked perfectly! Steamed spinach was good, but be careful with the salt, it was almost inedible. Cantucci and Vin Santo were EXCELLENT, finally some "probably pastry-made" cantucci that deserve to be called such! 2 bottles of water, a glass of red wine, and 2 excellent coffees = €60.00 A special tribute to the chef, "father of the very young head waiter." I repeat my compliments; we ate very well and were served admirably. Overall, great image (a quaint little restaurant just outside Lucca's city center) and great substance (the chef's passion and love for his craft are evident in the dishes). The only flaw (which can be fixed) is the front door; unfortunately, the constant draft from the fact that it keeps opening makes it uncomfortable, especially for those unfortunate enough to be sitting at the entrance. I would definitely return. I will recommend it.
