Osteria Babazuf In Siena

Great tagliata, octopus and wine!

Good with generous portions and reasonable prices. The only flaw is the coconut cheesecake, which I completely dislike. The wine list is also good, and the service is quick.

Located in the center of Siena, this small but very well-kept restaurant is a bit cramped due to its limited number of tables. Personally, I find it truly pleasant. The service is informal, but the staff is attentive, precise, and highly knowledgeable, never intrusive. My friends and I chose fresh porcini mushrooms to season our various dishes: tagliatelle with truffle (an 8, but the truffle was truly delicious, fresh, and flavorful; I would have preferred the homemade pasta a little thinner and less al dente), cappellacci (I don't remember the filling), really good, a 9.5, tagliata with porcini mushrooms, an 8.5, and sautéed porcini mushrooms, an 8.5. To finish, a Tortino and a semifreddo (if I remember correctly) with amaretto, both very good: an 8.5. What can I say: the unpretentious menu and excellent, expertly combined variations make it a place worth visiting, but it's best to book ahead otherwise you risk being booked out! Prices are absolutely reasonable for the quality of the products offered.

The Babazuf has a different menu than everyone else, which is what attracted us. It started very well; the service was nice, made good recommendations for wine, and the appetizers were very good. But the main course were not very good; my wife had the duck on grapes and I had the laces with pistachio pesto. The pastas tasted good, but they were definitely undercooked. But my wife could not eat the duck; it was too hard to cut! We told the server and his response was that duck is a hard meat! We returned it and did not take another dish; they were nice enough not to charge us for it. So in general; not a bad restaurant, but stay away from the duck!

This little Osteria is absolutely delicious with their fresh mushroom plates! 🍄 Blueberry-mushroom risotto was awesome. Affordable wine. Great truffle pasta and beef plates. 5+++ stars service!

Direct correction We stumbled upon this place by chance on a rainy day, looking for a place to eat well in the heart of magnificent Siena. We found a typical Tuscan restaurant with excellent local dishes. A well-deserved five stars!

We loved the place, very centrally located, our service was super fast, the staff was attentive, and the food was delicious. 10/10 for the price.

We had lunch at this restaurant in the center of Siena and had a wonderful meal. The pici and tortelli were excellent. We'll definitely be back!
