After three evenings in Tropea, we found a restaurant that was worth it. Excellent food and great local wine, as well as perfect service. The restaurant is a bit out of the center and without a terrace, but it is worth visiting.

We dined at this osteria, which was so good we returned twice during our five-day stay over the May Day long weekend. Beautiful, welcoming, intimate, and very elegant location in the entrance hall of a historic building. The service was attentive and attentive, as was the cuisine, which was typical Calabrian. The owner was very friendly, and the value for money was truly excellent! Highly recommended.

Antico Androne is located in a truly evocative setting, nestled in the entrance hall of an ancient historic building that immediately exudes an authentic and charming atmosphere. The family-run atmosphere is evident in every detail: the welcome is warm, the atmosphere friendly and relaxed, perfect for making you feel at ease from the moment you arrive. The quality of the food is excellent. The grilled swordfish steak was perfectly cooked, tender, and flavorful. The fresh and well-balanced Tropea salad was the perfect accompaniment to the meal, while the Sila potatoes with 'nduja provided a well-balanced and truly successful blend of flavors. To finish, the Pizzo truffles were an irresistible sweet treat. The service was impeccable: attentive, fast, and always with a smile. The portions are generous and satisfying. A decidedly positive experience: a place I recommend without hesitation and will gladly return to.

How lucky we were in this morning when we visited La Cattedrale di Maria Santissima di Romania and continued to the small square where you could see "resti di antiche Mura Urbice Bisantine"! We chose to walk past Koes on a narrow street, and there we saw OSTERIA ANTICO ANDRONE's menu: many Tropea specialties! Exactly what we wanted! I had seen "polpette di melanzane" on a menu elsewhere and wanted to taste them. Now it was closed, but we thought we would try it in the evening. Booked a table on Whatsapp and we were the first in the place. Lucky for us, because I happened to spill my wine all over the table, so we had to move to a new table! We had "fritelle di cipolla", "polpette di melanzane" and "piteuzza di alici" as starters. Absolutely wonderful flavors! The fried red onion was so crispy and tempted the taste buds with sweetness and lots of umami. The eggplant rolls were just as crispy and wonderful and I'm going to try making them at home (without a recipe, but hoping to remember the flavors). As a main course we ordered "Fagioli e salsicia alla Tropeana" which was delicious and "Tonno in crosta di pistacchio" which was DIVINELY COOKED! The chef really showed respect for the fish and it was perfect, not overcooked like it was the night before at another place. I can't describe how happy we were that it turned out so GOOD and the food had such WONDERFUL flavors! Good food and very reasonably priced! Too bad we only stayed two nights here in Tropea, because otherwise we would have eaten here all the time! I recommend this place with all my heart, you won't be disappointed!
