An osteria that prides itself on simplicity and a homey feel. I admit that at first glance, the exterior and entrance were a bit uninviting, but once I reached the inner dining room, I had to change my mind. I've always loved the rustic feel certain places give to their interiors. At first glance, I wasn't convinced by the price of the charcuterie board with gnocco fritto and giardiniera, which was higher than the Piacenza standard; but seeing the quantity of cured meats and the deliciousness of everything, I was able to change my mind. A truly excellent appetizer, with cured meats and gnocco fritto, which, despite being made with smaller than usual pieces, was plenty. The bread, which is included in the cover charge, was also delicious. The pasta was perfectly al dente: the tortelli con la coda were excellent, as is traditional, while the mezzelune with taleggio cheese and pears were exquisite. At times, perhaps a little too much, as some of the ravioli barely tasted of the sauce. In any case, the portions were just right. The desserts rounded off the dinner beautifully: the house tiramisu literally tasted like it was homemade, as my mother always assembled it in a similar way; the sbrisolona, on the other hand, was perfect, with its very light salty aftertaste, a perfect contrast to the mascarpone cream. The prices are reasonable for the quality of the dishes offered. Adding to the pleasantness of the evening was the staff, whom I immediately noticed were down-to-earth. I don't know if it's a family business, but that's what I sensed during this experience: a great deal of familiarity, warmth, and commitment to their work. I found it incredibly sweet to be served by the young daughter of one of the staff members, but overall, the entire team was impeccable. We left with smiles on our faces and full bellies. I'll definitely be back soon because I'm very curious to try the braised chestnut tagliatelle, too. I love it when menus combine traditional dishes with unique twists.
