Osteria a Porto d'Oglio In Villachiara

Classic Brescian osteria cuisine: good, sincere and without frills. Every time I leave full and NEVER have a digestive problem in the hours that follow. Paolo is a friendly, smiling host with an expertise in wine that would be the envy of most. The €33 tasting menu is a very ridiculous amount (in a positive sense, obviously) for how much you will eat and how you will eat. Kilometer-long wine list, of the highest quality and with VERY HONEST markups, net of the fact that, to find a similar wine list in a restaurant, one has to cry bitter tears in 99% of cases.

I spent more than 100 euros because from the "FOTONICA" wine list I chose a champagne that thrilled me

When someone wants to feel at home, it's the ideal place

The food is good, plentiful and at the right price. The service, despite always being very full, was very quick. During our last visit a couple of dishes were not perfect, in fact the suckling pig with porcini mushrooms was decidedly unsuccessful (the porcini mushrooms with cream and lots of pepper were absolutely inedible, whoever took it was very disappointed), but the remaining courses made up for it. The pasta with pickled hare sauce and the ox cooked in salt were spectacular, but also the appetizer of various cured meats and polenta. The desserts, on the other hand, are nothing special, but at a fair price. They are definitely not the reason to come here. Good wines, even the house ones.

The service was good and kind, the food was good, perhaps the portions were a little more abundant.

My family and I have been coming here for 20 years, each time more and more happy, truly traditional cuisine as very few places now maintain, exceptional and strong flavours, wonderful homemade desserts, very approachable staff always with a smile, I always recommend it to everyone both for lunch and dinner
