We stumbled upon this place by chance and were struck by the beauty of the setting, set in an enchanting setting that transports you to an ancient, almost medieval Italy. The restaurant is housed in an old cellar, carefully and elegantly renovated, with exposed stone and wooden beams covering a beautiful ceiling. The food was simply amazing, with extremely high-quality ingredients cooked with care and attention to detail. There were 14 of us, including six children, and we were served quickly and kindly. The owner, Antonio, was welcoming and, above all, honest.

The richness of this place lies in the authenticity of the products, the love with which they're prepared, the warmth of the setting, and the empathy that's created between the guests and Tony, the owner, who describes the dishes served as if they were his own. My wife and I went for lunch today, and I must say we had a wonderful two hours. I'll definitely be back.

In the heart of the village of Maranola, there's a place worth noting: Ostaria Castello 43. A restaurant that achieves something rare: offering authentic home cooking without falling into banality. Here, tradition isn't nostalgia, but living matter reinterpreted with intelligence and restraint.
The raw ingredients are immediately apparent: select meats, local products respectfully enhanced, meticulously prepared without being overbearing. Each dish exudes substance, yet with evident technical balance. Special mention goes to the use of salt: precisely calibrated, it enhances flavors without overpowering them. You leave satisfied, never feeling overwhelmed.
The atmosphere completes the experience. And then there's Tony, a host in the noblest sense of the word: he welcomes, entertains, tells stories, and connects. Not just waiters, but a spontaneous stage presence that makes dinner memorable. You feel like a guest, not a customer.
A real place, with an identity, warmth, and tangible quality. If you're looking for a restaurant where you can eat truly well and also enjoy a personal experience, this is an absolute must-visit in the Formia area.

Ostaria Castello 43 is one of those places that don't seek to impress, but to make you feel good.
And this, today, is already a deliberate choice.
The restaurant is welcoming, with a rustic and authentic atmosphere, reminiscent of home cooking and a sense of conviviality. Nothing is artificial: here, everything speaks of the local area and of lived, untold traditions.
The house antipasto is the real calling card: a generous and well-thought-out mix, perfect for starting the meal and for sharing. Artisanal and local cured meats, bruschetta, frittatas, beans with pork rind, tripe with potatoes... simple dishes, but crafted with care, that speak of a sincere cuisine without shortcuts.
The first courses follow the same line: home cooking, recognizable, without forced elements. Good, accurate, but more reassuring than surprising—and it's clear that here the strength lies not in the special effect, but in the continuity.
The main courses, on the other hand, were excellent: the entrecôte was tender and flavorful, with the lava stone available for those who prefer to control the cooking, and the Maranola sausage confirms the strong connection with the region. The choices are well-chosen and satisfying.
The desserts, all homemade, round out the meal with simplicity and flavor, without weighing you down.
Tony deserves a special mention: a knowledgeable host, expert in explaining the wines and the menu, but above all welcoming and genuine. One of those who makes the customer feel cared for, not "served."
Overall, a very positive, honest experience, worth recommending and repeating, especially for those seeking authentic cuisine, without pretenses, in a warm and human atmosphere.

A quaint and welcoming restaurant in the village of Maranola, perfect for enjoying Italian and Mediterranean cuisine with local ingredients and well-prepared dishes. Generous appetizers, quality first and second courses with traditional flavors. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful, the rustic atmosphere is truly special, and the quality/price ratio is excellent. Reservations are recommended as seating is limited!
