04/04/2025: I had dinner at Il Fabbro yesterday evening. Essentially, I loved everything about it: if I ever open a restaurant, I would follow the same philosophy. I really appreciated the food: flavors and textures are combined in a good and interesting way, yet without being too complex or needing to be too fancy. I would recommend to ask the waiters to explain the menu to you (our waiter spoke French and also a bit of English), as it is only on a blackboard and may result inunderselling their plates. In addition to speaking multiple languages, waiters were really friendly and nice, and also service was quite quick. Atmosphere is minimal, simple and familiar, which I appreciate, so do not expect fancy decorations. In summary: good food and service with no unnecessary things around it, which I think is the essence of a traditional trattoria in Genova. Final note: just be careful on which road you use to get to the restaurant, as vicoli in Genova can get a bit scary, especially in the evening.
